M30 Warlock Class Updates

Please use this thread to discuss changes to the Warlock class in Module 30.

The Warlock class, and the Hellbringer paragon, have had substantial updates. This is an incomplete list of all Warlock class updates, but reflects many of the in-progress changes.

Tooltips
  • Revised tooltip descriptions for many powers
  • Soul Spark generation is now mentioned in several more Warlock powers
Dark Helix At-Will
  • Magnitude increased from 125 per Dark Spiral to 150 base, +100 per Dark Spiral
  • Now generates more Soul Sparks
  • Fixed to only generate 1 Dark Spiral per enemy killed
  • Name in combat log changed from 'Dark Spiral Aura' to 'Dark Helix'
Eldritch Blast At-Will
  • Third Hit, Max Targets increased 5 -> 15
Hellish Rebuke At-Will
  • Magnitude of initial hit increased by +10 on base and No Pity, No Mercy versions
  • DoT damage is now considered Ranged Damage
  • Cast time increased slightly to prevent visual / audio cycling issues
  • Effects start later in the animation, requiring more time to pass before the power can be interrupted and still have full effect
  • Damage over Time and Retaliate components no longer triggers combat enchantment triggers (and other triggers)
Hand of Blight At-Will
  • Ranged version now generates Soul Sparks
  • Due to the Soul Shard change, Hand of Blight Melee now applies all of its effects, with bonus Soul Shard generation, on the 4rth hit of its combo
Arms of Hadar Encounter
  • Magnitude increased to 100 (85) -> 175
  • Cooldown Debuff duration decreased 15s -> 10s
  • The stacking cooldown debuff can no longer be dispelled.
Vampiric Embrace Encounter
  • Magnitude increased 275 -> 400
  • Hellbringer Magnitude increased 275 -> 500
Hadar's Grasp Encounter
  • Magnitude increased 300 -> 400
  • Hellbringer Magnitude increased 300 -> 500
  • Curse now increases the duration of Hadar's Grasp by 1 second and the Magnitude by 100
  • Note: Hadar's Grasp has been revised to deal an initial hit, followed by some DoT damage, which allows it to trigger combat enchantments and other effects once.
Dreadtheft Encounter
  • Total Magnitude increased 510 -> 700
  • Total Hellbringer Magnitude increased 510-> 800
  • Total Duration Decreased 8s -> 4s
  • Dreadtheft now only triggers combat enchantments once
  • Dreadtheft no longer triggers at-will hit effects
Fiery Bolt Encounter
  • Magnitude increased 260 -> 350
  • Rebuilt this power slightly such that it only triggers combat enchantments (and some other effects) once
Infernal Spheres Encounter
  • Retaliate Magnitude increased 65 -> 75
  • Second activation Max Magnitude increased 450 -> 750
  • Second activation Min Magnitude increased 160 -> 250
  • Damage is no longer affected by owner's Critical Avoidance
  • Second activation is now tag'd as Ranged Damage and Fire Damage
  • Second Activation Cooldown decreased 17s -> 14s
Hellfire Ring Encounter
  • Max Targets is now 15
  • Initial Magnitude increased 175 -> 250
  • Hazard Magnitude decreased 280 -> 250
  • Duration decreased 8s -> 5s
  • Hellfire Ring now deals more of its damage immediately, and, the hazard deals damage much more quickly
  • Hazard no longer triggers effects like Player Bonus Powers or feats like Power of the Nine Hells and Creeping Death. The initial hit still triggers all of these effects once.
  • Hazard damage is now tag'd as Damage Fire
Soul Siphon Daily
  • Cast time decreased 2.2s -> 2.0s
  • Effects start later in the animation, requiring more time to pass before the power can be interrupted and still have full effect
  • Tooltip revised to indicate this power has two hits
Flames of Phlegethos Daily
  • No longer deals damage to nearby targets
  • Magnitude increased 1300 -> 2100
  • Now provides Combat Advantage against the affected target
Gates of Hell Daily
  • Now deals 300 bonus Magnitude against targets afflicted by Curse
Soulburn Mechanic
  • Soulburn, the early Warlock special mechanic, has been significantly improved and now functions more like the Hellbringer Soul Scorch power
  • Min Magnitude increased 100 -> 150
  • Now scales with Soul Sparks up to a Max Magnitude of 450
Soul Scorch Mechanic
  • Min Magnitudes increased 72 -> 150
  • Max Magnitudes increased 216 -> 450
  • Note that Double Scorch feat only increases the magnitude of the initial hit
  • Soul Scorch's DoT is no longer considered an Encounter power
Curse Mechanic
  • Magnitude (total) increased 12 -> 25
  • Soul Puppet Mechanic
  • Soul Puppet's stats are now derived from the player's stats more accurately
  • This allows the Soul Puppet to benefit from Combat Advantage, as well as scaling higher with player stats
  • Wraith Claw is now tag'd as Necrotic Damage
Soul Spark Mechanic
  • At-wills generate more soul shards per-hit, but Warlock powers no longer generate a bonus Soul Spark from a critical hit
  • This change should help normalize soul spark generation for newer players, as well as allowing us to balance soul spark generation more fairly to slower at-will powers like Dark Helix
Soul Investiture Mechanic
  • Can no longer incorrectly target your Companion
  • This fixes the issue with the Soul Puppet sometimes despawning prematurely after stacking Soul Investiture
Flames of Empowerment Class Feature
  • Tooltip now specifies it only increases your powers' damage.
Dark One's Blessing Class Feature
  • Tooltip now correctly states the cooldown is 6 seconds, not 10 seconds.
No Pity, No Mercy Class Feature
  • Retaliate magnitude increased from 31.25 -> 40
  • Hellish Rebuke's tooltip now updates to reflect the changes when No Pity, No Mercy Class Feature is equipped
Double Scorch Feat
  • Updated tooltip to match new magnitude increase, and, Soul Scorch now displays the modified magnitude
Creeping Death Feat
  • Can no longer trigger on hits that do not also trigger combat enchantments
  • Magnitude increased 10 -> 25 per stack
  • Max # of stacks decreased 10 -> 5
  • These changes should result in more maximum damage, while making the power easier to stack to maximum without relying exclusively on Hellfire Ring
Executioner's Gif Feat
  • Bonus damage effect increased 20% -> 30%
  • Now affects Daily powers
  • These changes should hopefully make this feat much more competitive with Creeping Death
Wrathful Souls Feat
  • Effect reworked; now increases the damage bonus of Soul Sparks from 0.25% -> 1.0% each
  • No longer utilizes or relies upon the Soul Puppet
