Runed Armor Etching and Resonance Help

I have the quest to restore a piece of runed armor in undermountain. This is preventing me from collecting resonance for master expeditions. I have read about a bug that makes me not necessarily wanting to abandon the armor task, but is abandoning the armor task the only way can go back to collecting the normal resonance to attune for Master expeditions?
