Undermountain Master Exp. Drops Question

Is there anything specific I have to do to get the legendary gear drops I get in Undermountain's Master Expeditions to actually drop gear that's above or at the same level as my currently equipped gear?

Right now, every drop is useless to me because I keep getting 950 level gear or lower. Every piece of equipment I own is at or above that level. I see in the collections tab that there are gear that are actually 1000 or higher, but none ever drop for me. Just the same 950 or below stuff that I can't use.

It's kind of frustrating that I can't improve my character's total equipment level and my various stats by doing these things since I never get BETTER gear than what I currently have.

Once you have your gear , the only reason to run ME’s is to get the 3 daily Zok boxes in hopes of getting companion equipment or an artifact ( staff of flowers ) IMO and for currency

You can get the purple companion gear from the ME quest giver as well. I get them all the time.

I don't have any of the higher level gear from Undermountaint, though. There's some gear I see in the collections tab that's like 1000 or so. But the only ones that ever drop for me when I do the master expeditions are the 950 ones.

There's no trick or special way to get the 1000 level ones? Just pure luck?
