Has anyone experienced glitch in whispering caverns were you cant go through portal to upper vault?

I experienced this glitch a few months ago and don't know any way to get by it. It happened when i was to turn quest in to soren ravis and was part of a group. My friend went through portal but it never let me. I have tried going back but nothing. Does anyone know of possible solution?
