Companion's 'update automatically' not working in combat

Since last patch, when trying to use the 'update automatically' on the companion tab, i get this error message "You cannot manage, summon or dismiss a companion in combat or when you have fallen in battle" which wasn't the case before, and nothing about this was mentioned on the patchnotes either.
Normally this helps with the bug in certain areas of Lomm where ur companion wont give u stats even when they are literally standing next to you, after double clicking the autoupdate, u get the stats back. Also useful for combat companions that are currently in a worse situation.
Btw i wasn't dead nor trying to dismiss companion nor anything, i believe i explained fairly well what the feature is supposed to do.
