Vorpal shards won't allow ward slot/Coalescent ward won't go into ward slot

1) Log in to a level 80 Warlock
2) Open bag
3) Click on refine Vorpal shards
4) Try to slot Coalescent ward purchased in Zen store
5) Ward slot grayed out and no wards can be slotted
Observed Result:
The ward slot is grayed out for the Vorpal shards, but I can use wards in refinement of already upgraded shards, for example terror.
Expected Result:
Coalescent ward should work to upgrade vorpal shards.
