Is anyone else having an issue progressing Alchemy? And Yes I understand Research is the way to XP.

In a nut shell, I made whatever I needed to execute Experiments for lvls one through eight, doing the research task for each level to progress to 9. At nine, I had two research tasks available...one being a transmute that gave 600 XP, and a second for 1200 XP. I did the 600 XP task and cannot seem to get any more of the Basic Alchemical Knowledge drops, which is of course preventing me from doing any further research tasks.

Anyone got any idea what to do? I'm burning through solvent like crazy, but going nowhere for progress.

The bug that shows lower-rank research tasks that should no longer be available has caused many players to break their alchemy progression in a way that there is no* recovering from until Cryptic figures out how to fix it.

If you run a research task that does not provide sufficient XP to fill the bar and bump over the level, the experiments stop producing knowledge... and because you get one knowledge per recipe learned in the first place, if you blow those scrolls on the wrong task, even if you could make more, you wouldn't have been able to make enough. This system works fine as long as you only ever have the option to run the correct level of research.

Cautionary to players who have not broken their alchemy profession yet, NEVER EVER run any research task that does not correspond to the level you're trying to gain. As far as I've been able to tell, as long as you don't make any mistakes and never get impatient, the profession can still be levelled.

*The Alchemical Extravaganza event (not currently scheduled) might make a complicated and expensive workaround possible so this "no" is not an absolute, but should be treated as one regardless.

tl;dr - Stop using solvent. Your profession is broken and you can't fix it.

Try turning off both filters, and look for the task to gain experience then. I had once lost track of how many BAKs I had, and did the task 4 times before I checked, and I had already had enough.

Kreatyve, could you please update this thread when a fix goes in? I'd ask you to mail me, but since there are others with the same issue, a heads up would be very nice. And YES I know it should be in the notes for the update...but sometimes they don't cover all the details.
