Gateway Access?

The Gateway seems to be a very useful tool for players, especially if you utilize the professions feature.

Will we have access to the Gateway?

If no, are there plans to bring us access at any point?

If so, will it be restricted in any way? i.e. No Sword Coast Adventures.

    No, PS4 will not have access to the Gateway. (This was answered elsewhere).

    It's hard to know for certain, but I would be somewhat surprised if they decided to bring Gateway access to the PS4. Unfortunately, I think it's likely that you will have to manage all of your professions in-game.

    The XBox folks never got access to the gateway. It's possible that with the PS4 launch they'll bring it to both, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    As annoying as it is, it might also be the right decision. Gateway access allows people to interact with the game when they're not actually playing it, which is an avenue rife for abuse. Especially when the game is in it's early days after launch, players being able to advance their professions 24 hours a day through the Gateway would definitely give them a leg up on supplying the AH with professions materials. Casual players would be left disadvantaged.

    Take it from someone who's been playing PC since open beta, the Gateway is very much a mixed blessing. A convenience for the masses, but a dangerous compromise.

    Do you really want to have to compete with people botting through the gateway?

    Doh! Can't believe I overlooked the botting angle for it. I can see that being a problem, and botters annoy the F outta me due to the negative impact they cause to the game, especially it's economy.

    I was mostly thinking of sword coast adventures since there are two companions you can only get there that I'd like to be able to get. Hopefully they can figure out a way to bring some of aspects of it to the consoles that limit or negate the ability for botting to ruin it for others.

    honestly, the only reason I want Gateway is for Sword Coast Adventures.

    maybe try to find some way to make that available ingame? or maybe a mobile app for it.

    but NOT the companion GEAR which only comes from the gateway , you know the loyal stuff... !
    and no, the ones that is dropping in the stronghold heroics with an overload slot and the ones from lockboxes does "never" count... dont forget that pls :)

    The gateway is a good tool to enhance professions. I hope they implement it on consolles. I play few hours at week, but i run a notebook 10 hours/day.

    Considering the upcoming changes to invoking being any indication, I'd say no.
    In fact, if they could get away with cancelling it on pc, I bet they'd do it

    But people would lose their minds.

    Anyway, yeah, don't count on it.
