Character size altering legal or not?

matthiasthehun76matthiasthehun76 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,184 Arc User
Hi there, dear Mods!

I was standing in PE and saw khmm a PVP player (no bashing, i loved PVP until recently) alter her character's default size. Now it was not a halfling, but a tiefling, which became smaller than a halfling standing next to her. Made a few screenshots, cause maybe i am a newbie, but never saw it from anybody doing it.

First i thought maybe a Dev experimenting in PE with a new companion. Still don't know, if it was a Dev or not, but i know it was not a companion, cause as it grow back it turned out to be a player's char.

My question is in the title.

I would be very surprised to see if it was legal (except if a Dev was there really), cause it can be game changing, especially in PVP.

Thank you!

The human race is a herd. Here we are, unique, eternal aspects of consciousness with an infinity of potential, and we have allowed ourselves to become an unthinking, unquestioning blob of conformity and uniformity. A herd. Once we concede to the herd mentality, we can be controlled and directed by a tiny few. And we are.

Failed experimental alchemy potions can cause a character to shrink. So by itself shrunken characters are not a bug or glitch.

That said, those potions can also cause other effects beyond just shrinking. The effects are random and cant be controlled. So while it is possible to shrink, to do so with consistency and at will, would be suspicious.

Isn't there a potion that can randomly shrink/grow/turn you into some animal for a short time?

I may sound skeptic, but with this PVP community you never know, i saw lots of things, from flying GWFs to wall climbing TRs...

But thank you i appreciate the response, forgot about those potions.

It's either an Unstable Potion or a Potion of Diminution (I really doubt it was the 2nd one, Halloween was half a year ago)

and afaik, this potion is disabled in pvp, due to random healing effect (not sure tho).

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PE is the safest place to chug unstable potions because the heal effect might save you from dying from the poisonings. So many poisonings.

I love those potions. Sometimes they will even change you into a bear. Or a chicken. :open_mouth:

One of my guildmates nearly one-shotted himself with a Superior Unstable potion. True story.

I drank a few and became a really tiny chicken once. Tried again to see if I could become a really huge chicken but ended up as a bear and almost died from poisoning. Beware! :D

He wasn't flying, he was just falling... at an angle. That last jump from Moonstone Mask to the PE was pretty awesome though.

I've nearly killed myself binge drinking unstable potions too. I had to actually chug healing potions in PE to keep from dying until the effect wore off. I think being a giant chicken would be fun :) (plug for shapechange specialist druid for next class!)

I actually wouldn't mind seeing an option for excessive height or weight. The character editor in the Foundry makes for some interesting dimensions. It could be a Bazaar purchase or something similar to or incorporated with the Change Appearance Token. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, love that game too, played nearly all parts of the series. Since i am very much a history buff it made me wonder a bit why the makers of Assassin's Creed took a turn in the story line.

Btw i never dared to try such a potion before. Sounds funny to me too, but i feared some effects might stick on my beautiful girl toons and i didn't wanted to risk their pretty faces. he he

Who knows maybe in next modules devs give us ability to "transmute" character like mount.

The animal transformation and size change potion effects don't seem to stack any longer. It used to be if you had your size altered and then changed into an animal, you could be a really tiny (poisoned) wolf or giant boar. Now it appears that the animal effect will only appear as normal-sized. This is a little sad. Also, mounting up returns you to normal size instead of being tiny or giant.

On a GWF, taking enough poison damage to pop unstoppable while size-altered was always fun.

but it's pretty weird to get a post from someone that has 1020 posts on the forum, it's like you started to play this game yesterday?

Oh c'mon Lancer what's wrong with asking a question, that's why the Forum is here. I never said i am all knowing, dear Jesus it would be terrible. There is no shame in asking for help!

Don't you know the famous quote from General Lee: " The education of a man is never completed until he dies." True wisdom!

Btw i know the game play mechanics of the GWF class, have all classes and he is my second main, but when i was referring to the "flying" GWF i didn't meant you, it was some other GWFs/TRs i saw do it in a way, which is not how Devs intended it to be. ;)
