Best weapon enchantment useful both in PVP and PVE?

Feytouched is useful in PVE or it's a waste?

Both for high-crit and non-crit builds.

Plague and Terror do not pierce DR directly but only Armor, right?

I believe the players who did all the number crunching and enchantment ranking have long left this game as I haven't seen anyone recently post numbers to "justify" their claims as to which enchantment is the "best".

I still use Vorpal as there are still websites out there with the detailed explanation of the math that goes behind how effective it is and why.

The game has been modified many times since these calculations were made and none to change the math that I know of, but improvements have been made to the other enchantments to make them more "comparable" to Vorpal using different mechanics.

The main advice that many of these players always gave however is to pick and use the enchantment that best fits your play style.

Eg. My main char is a TR and I enjoy playing executioner style over permasteath. As an executioner, I'm looking for max burst damage. So, Vorpal is my best friend in both PvP and PvE. I'm told fey touched is the preferred enchantment for permastealth TRs.

"Best" has many different meanings for different types of players.
A basic rule of thumb for doing damage is to maximize your DPS (damage per second). That's affected by how much damage you can deal and how often you can deal that damage. That is why play style has a very big effect on which enchantment is best for you.

    I hope this helps.

All the top pvp'ers use feytouched. Been using it in PVE, and yeah it's powerful there too. MY GWF can top over another GWF with a P vorpal. Mine had over 2000 less crit as well.

But this is with pure/trans. With the new GMoP changes, vorpal will be a go to for cheap weapon enchants as you will only need GMoP, not SMoP to reach it's max potential.

basically your crit rate has to exceed ~40% before perfect vorpal becomes usefull. before that perf plague is better and significantly cheaper. i dont have the numbers for fey yet. its possible fey stacking with multiple mobs is involved. which makes the math much more complex.

I have a gwf right now and i'm trying to priortize it's crit rate and I'm running with a vorpal. I'm currently spec'd for pve only. I don't plan on a getting a feytouched since I don't have the resources atm, but I'm just wondering, if I had a feytouched, would it improve my overall dps for pve? I nv thought about using a feytouched for it. Always just been hearing everyone talk about getting a p.vorpal back then, especially if you're a gwf.

    A note on Vorpal

Since it is directly tied to crit chance, you need to find the right balance of crit severity to your crit chance.

Wait what, isn't it the other way around?

Not anymore, since its technically feasible to stack your crit chance up to and over 100%. There becomes a point where stacking crit severity will not net as much damage as a feytouch. Also feytouch provides opportunity for spike damage which is more useful in PVP than in PVE

That said, i still use Vorpal because it can increase the potency of outgoing heals.

    Just my $.02

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. Was thinking about that as well. Since you are going against less opponents in pvp compared to pve the enchant effects becomes more efficient in regards to direction damage output. I have a pvorpal right now, would it be worth my concentrated effort into upgarding it to a pure?

Depends on where you want to spend your AD, the benefits on pure/trans are pretty minimal and the costs re high (will be cheaper when the new mark of potencys are released).

I think the AoE effect from fey buffs you multiple times. So in reality, attacking a mob yields a bigger buff.

Yeah but if your crit severity is over 100% without vorpal, you may see more damage from coupling that with the fey than stacking a vorpal.
