Strangely long patch

I logged in a couple hours ago, I was able to play but experienced a lot more lag than usual, then I saw the server not responding tag and got disconnected. When I restarted the launcher it began to patch, it's been patching since 1 hour !
It says 3880 MB needs to be patched, why is this happening? Is it normal or what?

    Sounds like you could have some corrupted files. Please do a force verify.
