Would you PVP in Strongholds if PVE boons were gated behind PVP currency?

I am not going to be joining a guild so most of Mod 7 will not apply to me.

It wouldn't make a difference to me either way.

Maybe instead of checking everyone's gear, you should actually be playing. Just a thought. Queue the "it only takes a few seconds to check everyone's gear".

The game is PVE based, I think that much should be clear to even the most hardcore PVP player. PVP in MMOs, except maybe a few, is always a sideshow. Therefore, I can see forcing PVP players to do PVE content, but not forcing PVE players to do PVP content.

Here is a compromise - give a PVP option and a PVE option to each, both with a similar level of difficui tlty, and avoid the p Any boon that is currently PVP involved, make a PvE option, and vice versa.

Forcing people to PVP cheapens the PVP experience, which in turn cheapens the entire game. You will have people in the matches just because they have to - they won't be prepared, they won't have a clue, and they will just get run over. Who benefits there?

Mate.... I do both i used to only do pve but I decided to try pvp and it's fun. Yes there are those who aren't nice but for the most part the pvp people are good peeps. Most are helpful .

And yes I always check my group so I know who will need help and who can handle themselves.

Yes, I love PVP it's the only part of the game I play anyway.
I would PvP more often to get glory for my guild, but i wouldn't want to participate in guild pvp.

pvp contributions should yield pvp rewards (ie. boons) that only become active when in pvp areas.

i have no plans to do actual pvp battles, so i would not expect to receive any of those benefits. yet if they decide to make all rewards available to all guild members, i will focus on pve tasks while others handle pvp.

So where is the "Since I'm forced to, I will have to."

    Pretty much this!

I hate forced content, more so since PVP is toxic and full of bugs, balance issues and a community full of black sheep, who abuse everything to win.

However, a sign of Guild's success in my book is when guildies give you feedback that they love the camaraderie among fellow guildies. Camaraderie will be the GLUE that holds guilds together OVER TIME, NOT BUFFS.

Let's get serious Cryptic about letting people play the game the way they WANT TO PLAY. Because if they can not, they wont "suck it up"... they'll simply leave and play another game.

Agree with most of your words mate, but as they say in Warhammer 40K: "The Emperor protects, but a good bolster doesn't hurt either"- if i remember it correctly. My entire family was in the army, me a former LT 1st, but trust me, not a single soldier would have followed you without a loaded gun into action. Camaraderie helps, sure, but if it comes to act, it won't help if you stay naked there.

Problem with the PvP part in Strongholds, the Devs are pretty much asking the players to go up against well armored tanks, while most of the players are only carring a BB gun...
There is no real matchmaking for PvP, but then forcing players into PvP?
    That's just plain wrong.
And forcing players into something will only backfire at some point... but i think they don't care about that at the moment.

    It's real simple:
If you have to force game play/style it's broke from the get go.
Forced labor at the point of a bayonet is called: SLAVERY

If you have to make a choke point to get to a reward then your content by definition is weak, people should want to do something to get a reward. If you have to force them to do what they don't want to do then you fail.

To make the majority PVE fan base play PVP to get at a reward they need in a advertised as a PVE game, you are a total failure in your creative process.

Quote: "The beatings will continue until morale improves." Is that the way we really want to go about it? Beat them into compliance?

You do reaize that you dont need to "actively" play PvP, right? You can just join GG and set auto run. Match will end in 5-10min (usually) and you will get 3-10 grym coins that you can later exchange for Glory.

Your complains making it sounds like you had to WIN pvp matches to progress. If winning is not required then you dont have to worry, because your bad gear or lack of experience, skill, etc will not stop your guild from progression.

Disliking PvP is not valid reason to hate new changes, because there's plenty of pvpers who dislike PvE aspects yet feel forced to do it and not many pves support changes in their favor.

Yes, he's saying, that PvE players should play cannon fodder for PvP players.
He's only leaving out the part, where PvP players would get a a lot more out of this, then the PvE players.

so you are saying the PvE people should just join PvP and stand there until the match over so the pvp guilds can kill them?

The PvP players should try an actual PvP game. not a PvE game with a little, miniscule, minute, pvp option.

I say that you've such options while PvPers cannot just stay afk and wait for new boons or marks to jump in to their bags.

I've lvl70 CW and SW with full pvp set but no boons and no weapon / armor enchants. Despite low item lvl (1.8-1.9k) i can still get some kill or even top score from capping. You dont need any crazy or expensive gear to s

+ Invoke regular, and you have a chance of getting Coalescent Wards from the coffers, to make your very own armor/weapon enchantments from shards of the auction house.

+ The first few ToD boons can be reached with just doing some daily quests. And you don't even have to perfom well at those heroic encounters, just hit the dragon a few times during that encounter, and the daily quests for it is done.

Back on topic, the Devs should just offer the same boons for PvE and PvP, and let the players decide which way they want to go, to get the needed resources for them.

Why even force PVE players into PvP?
Not enough players interested into PvP, so they have to do this, to keep the PvP wallet warriors happy?

Except that it isn't Glory that is needed... it's Conqueror's Shard of Power, which is rewarded for WINNING a Domination match. Not simply queueing and afking at the campfire to get credit for participation - WINNING. At the very, very, least, that part needs to be changed. They cannot reasonably expect PvE guilds to be able to earn these shards under such a requirement. Of course, as has been said countless times already, the BEST option is to simply make only on type of shard that is earned from all the NPC tasks in the Stronghold, that way, the PvE guilds can do what they enjoy and the PvP guilds can do what they enjoy and those who enjoy both will progress that much faster.
