Me and my brother have been playing FW for a few days to learn the basics of the game. We are going to make 2 new characters which are going to be our main chars.

We don't have enough knowledge to determine which 2-player class combination makes the best party for leveling so we're asking you.

Warrior+Priest
Assassin+Priest
Warrior+MM
Warrior+Assassin (2 DPS maybe?)
Mage+a DPS here ;)
or a completely different combination...

(Please add race information of your combinations if possible.)

Thanks in advance for your reply.

[BTW, which one is best for leveling after lvl 45-50, PvP or PvE?]

Aegis Warrior and Divine Priest would be a very good combination if you're looking for pure PvE. The Aegis is built to tank, but still do pretty good damage. Divine is major healing tree, not only being able to keep you alive, but also her/himself.

Assassins are more PvP based, as they are a little squishy on the grinding scale. They are built to do damage fast and kill it before it kills them.

MMs are great for AoE grinding, however, there is no healer so the both of you would have to rely on another friend who can heal, or pots. Same for the other Dps/DD classes.

As for past 45, I'm not there yet. I'm only 44 for now (The sig lies).

    For PvE purposes:

    Priest + Protector/Warrior
Mage + Burst Marksman (epic aoe ftw)
    Vampire + Mage/Marksman/Warrior/Sin (off-heal/dps + dps)

Overall, at least one of you should probably have a healing ability i.e. Priest, Vampire, or Bard. If the other was a tank/off-tank you would get into parties faster. Thus Protector or Warrior would be a good choice. Otherwise just go for any other dps class such as Sin, Mage, or MM.

Prot/Bard imo since they both in good demand on most servers and have heals and tank

    1) Prot and Bard combo worked wonders with me and my bf when we teamed up on my alt one day, I was even a water bard and he a marble prot
    2) MM and Priest/Prot is my dream team but then again I'm a burst mm. ;)
    3) Blood Vamp and probably anything else.... even another vamp.
    4) Been thinking of a sin priest/bloodvamp combo for when the new pvp server opens myself

This is just my humble opinion though

Actually, this is probably the best combo. Very high demand on both plus a bard can heal both at once and DD better than a Priest overall. Thus faster parties, faster instances, and faster solo quest teaming.

    good combos:

First and foremost, be different classes of each other (given xD)

Fast quest mob slaying: AoE DPS (mage at lower levels, marksman takes over by 47+) and a priest (note that if you aren't divine, it'll be hard to get into instances)

Notes: bards don't heal 1-2 people well. They are meant to heal 3+. however mobs start to be too spread out 60+ but its no big deal since there aren't that many quests.

Honestly there isn't really a bad combo, hell you can go sin + vamp for extreme dps + support heals

Just be whatever class you want to be.

    PvE combo
would be Glacial or Rebel Priest. blood vamp, or bard (forgot what tree and a Sin/(not blood)Vamp/Warrior

PvP - well you can 1v1 3v3 and 6v6 so it doesnt matter to much. I dont recommend a Divine priest for 1v1 but if you can pull it off then good for you

You guys have said at least 1 of us should be healer, so for the second one(which is pure DPS) i have decided to make warrior, because it has alot HP and huge attack power... But cant decide on the build, should it be Phantom or Elemental.. Phntom has more Hp, but Elemental is pure DPS but less hp and defence, its too complicated!

BTW i think about making a vamp for the healer one because they can be a mid-range DPS but also can heal any1 they want(blood-vamp)[Also Axym said we could create any other class to party with Blood-Vamp, so Warrior-Vamp party would be great i think, but still cant decide on the build of warrior]

Also some of you may ask why didnt you make Prot/Bard: and the answer is they are so passive in instances and other parties so they dont fit in our playing style so much(specially the Prot(Stoneman). Bard has good healing but very weak attack, and stoneman is slow and really passive(can only be Tank)

At last one the characters will be a warrior(no decision for build yet, waiting for advice ;)),
And the other will be Blood-Vamp, but not sure about that... It can change if further advice comes...

Thank you for your current advices and for the next ones :)

Just go with Elemental build, you can get warded stout (def/hp) gear easy if you need the boos or just stack the other stances instead of the frenzy stance. At higher levels it wont matter as much and aegis though with more def agro pulling talents and hp definetly lacks alot in attack power compared with the other classes. For vamp blood vamps do well at healing it'll be every easy but at higher level they can roll to dark vamp for extended dark bonds, Mana explosion aoe and blood rite then they can have 30k+ hp pretty easy. At 65 you as a warrior get a stright line aoe called lightning wings besides that up til then you will only have single target DPS. Problem with this pair though is that higher lvl you'll need more instances that just quest and theres almost 0 grinding. There are ALOT of vamps and wars at every level so if you guys try to join up with a party thats already got one chances are one of you two wont get in party as n oone wants double stack of classes for gear instances.

 Wow people actually take my advice... not that it's bad, or misleading imo, I'm just surpries!

I think I have to agree with the poster 2 above me. While this will work wonders while grinding, instancing might be a little difficult, unless your blood vamp is prepared to be main healer.

War should be Elemental. While Phantom gives good hp, elemental will eventually out dps (by far so I'm told), and therefore will probably tank (in case your vamp gets into trouble) better. My warrior is only lvl 32 though and I haven't touched her in about a month.... so I could be completely off.

The main problem about the protector andpriest is, they are so PASSIVE as i said.

-Priest has weak attack powerand can only heal 1 person at same time and its a very big problem in instances because every1 call u "cmon priest heal me", "healhealheal" but u cant do aoe heal so it is difficult to manage.

-Protectors have so much hp but they are too SLOW and not ranged... As i know they have the slowest skills and that could be a problem in PvP.But they also have some advantageslike:
They are so rare in any server(btw we will play in PvE server, we just moved there from PvP server)
    They have so much HP
They are always wanted for any instance as i know

-Vampires can beseen everywhere in any server, thre is lots of vamps everywhere, so its a big disadvantage but they are healer and DPS at the same time so they fit in every playing style. But popularity is their biggest disadvantage...

-Warriors are always welcomed in any party because hey are sub-tank and DPS at the same time but they have the popularity problem too, you can see warriors everywhere so no1 would search for a warrior to go instance...

-MM has very long range skills and u cant find mm's easily because they are so rare but they are not so needed as i know(correct me if i am wrong with this).Their HP and damage is great but thye have less defence than warriors so they will always need a healer or pots to survive...

So we have decided these classes to select to play with but now we have to decide 2 of them, but they all have some advantages and dsadvantages..

We want active characters and supportive classes to help each other, Also we have heard from "Abels" that Blood Vamp-Warrior party can have some difficulties at high levels so we have decided to change or opinion and eliminated some of the classes so these are the final options that we can select and play...

    Please write your opinion and advice some classes (also with races);

    Thank you again and again,

I can't help you with Priest/Prot. While I agree with the Prot things... I find playing a priest fun, but maybe that's just not for you.

MM: Burst MM's (aoe) are needed in instances, the only problem is is that we can be replaced with aoe mages... which there are a lot more of. However, no one will say no to a mage/mm tag team. We're "needed" in pvp though, both 1v1 (soul) and gvg (burst) because we are less squishy than mages. gvg = group v group to me, not guild v guild.... just fyi, but ppl do you gvg for guild wars.

IMHO: Warr=vamp=sin in necessity in pve. They all provide dps, just different kinds.... War = off tank, vamp (blood) = off tank/off heals/debuffs/dps, sin = high crits.

This is kinda why I said blood vamp with just about anything because in my opinion, they are the ultimate solo class, and add anything to them and you get a spectacular combo.... imho. You can do the war/vamp combo you mentioned but it's just going to be hard to get into instances, but if you get into a guild, that becomes a heck of a lot easier.

War: I'd go human, because reading a few forums, this seems to be the main choice. I've never played an elf war, so I can't tell you the difference, you can go read war forums though.

Sin: I'd go kindred, do to Vampiric Kiss and mastery bonus if you go Venom tree.

Priest: Human, that racial +25% mp is amazing... but elf gives you about 36%... but slower.

So every instance party would look for Prot, Priest and MM as i understand. And instances are very important at high level right? this specialises these classes as they are also so rare..

So can you tell me about how do the protectors and Markmans do out of instance? Can they do quest easily or its challenging? Can they level easily? and how about their PvP and PvE style...

*Again: We moved to PvE server

Again and again thank you ;)

You'll be using pots because prot/mm has absolutely no heals... at least not mm side.

Instances look for Tank/Heals/1aoe dps/dps which is usually Prot/Priest/aoe mm or mage/everything else.

I'd like to take a moment to point out that only Burst MM's have aoe spec's. All mm's get one aoe, true, but only Burst spec it out and get 1~2 more aoe atks.

They aren't looking for mm's especially, just aoe. The reason mm/mage aoe team works well is because you have 2 good aoe's without the competition for drops.

However, pve, this is great, prot can get a mass amount of mobs together and a burst mm can aoe them, this works even better at higher levels because a high level prot gets a mass taunt and high level burst mm has reduced cd on aoe skills.

PvP wise would probably work similarly, I don't pvp much, but I immagine this is how it'd work. Not to mention mm's can hide behind big prots ;)

You will still be using plenty of pots/food/drink so be warned.

I must agree with the pot situation but the healing thing can be done by a guild mate or smth if needed also creating pots in this game is cheap as i see... Also i think that in 3v3 (priest/prot/mm) or (DPS/prot/mm) would work perfectly... Also in any instance we would only need a priest which we can find from guild than with two random players more we can donne instance easily because we already have what we need...

I just need to get used for playing a protector as its opposit of my game style(i love fast attacks but a high damage). But i ll do high damage anyway, who cares speed :P

BTW should we play in PvE or PvP server? We changed it but i m so confused, i think we can survive in any server if we play good, also stoneman and markman is great in PvP as i know, can you give an advice about this too?

Like I said, I don't play in pvp servers so I REALLY cannot say anything about world pvp or PKing.

Arena however, MM's are the first target, after priest. This is why I said hiding behind a prot would be good, because it allows you to fire off some atks "without being seen." I have been to arena a grand total of 4 times, so most of this is also just speculation. Questing/grinding though you should be fine, as long as your not stupid, like mm aggroing mobs that aren't on tank -.=.

As for Prot dps... I hear you I could never level one past 25 although my guild desperately needs....

Lol we can manage the aggro thing easily, no worries... But for me playing in a PvP servver looks more comfortable because they are not so crowded like PvE, u dont see any party or people so much while training at any map, but in PvE there are lots of people so you think like ou are useless... But on the other hand playing at PvP has difficulties:you must watch your back if you are out of the city.. You mustnt go AFK out of city also or you will get killed for SURE!

    PvP server is like this
    1. Not alot of areas to PK
i dont think there is one in freedom harbor but i know Sea of Oblivion has PKing
Dont go PvP inless you feel like PKing when your a high level and since there will be 2 of you, you might be able to kill the PKers (ive never been PKed :D i just froze them with my ice mage and RAN to safety :P my PK virginity is still intact)
I dont think your can PK or get PKed till level 30

*WARNING* At sea of oblivion HIGH levels camp and wait for low levels to leave the town so they can PK you

    PvE
i think you can duel and thats all you really need -_-
