    Is it just a sign of the modern online discourse where people have to start arguing over the definition of fairly basic terms to try to deflect away from the pertinent details in some bizarre form of denial? When people start arguing over the definition of pretty basic stuff, you know they're just trolling, or incredibly f..king stupid, and in either situation, arguing with them is just pointless.

    However, posting a link is most likely pointless, though I will give it anyway. For those who care, would already have taken the time to understand. For those who are still arguing what a "loot box" is, well, I doubt that they have the willingness nor capacity to actually read and understand anyway.

    China DOES have "loot boxes" by the way. Dar Giugo literally carries boxes with loot in them that you can trade real world currency for, and China has that NPC with those items too.

    But China doesnt sell boxes For leafs in the Boutique. Thats against the law there for years.
    The boxes from npc can be bought with ingame currency so thats different.

    That's a very fine line. They do have a cash shop, and leaves, and their leaves can be converted directly into gold. With gold you can buy fantasy shards from Dar Giugo (essentially a 2nd form of in-game currency), and with those, buy the loot boxes.

    That's a pretty slim-**** set of steps to "launder" the process from what we have "spend $$ -> get leaves -> buy loot boxes(orbs) with leaves", as opposed to "spend $$ -> get leaves -> convert leaves to in-game currency -> buy loot boxes with in-game currency"

    That's like arguing that gambling using casino chips (in-house currency) in a casino is not gambling using real money (even though the in-house currency was obtained with real money)

    What does this have to do with the topic anyway? It was stated that China doesn't have loot boxes. It does.

    China's laws may be so utterly weak as to permit the practice of real currency gambling on the basis that a tiny percentage of the overall currency spent in game can be earned in game, but it appears that Belgium/Netherlands have rightfully seen through that flimsy sham, and are calling that for what it is, a flimsy sham that still allows for real currency gambling to happen.
