They're consolation prizes at best at this point. Yes, other games do a brisk business in cosmetic pets, but they have more robust servers, and don't necessitate a camera distance in the 60 to 100 feet from character for group content.
Here's my elemental sniper pseudo-pet master. He's a bit fragile, but the idea is that pseudo-pets transfer next to no aggro to the caster, and the sigils with their 100% uptime cover anything left handily. He also makes a adequate reserve healer. And for comedy, he's running the third macro set here in the Rainbow Powers…
In fairness, auras should have been monetized as costume parts, not gear. Then we could buy the aura, THEN level the character it inspired. Instead we're stuck with "see aura in event shop, try to level the character to use it high enough to earn event tokens, then buy aura".
Next week we get the Undead Hero Slaughter Trains, cycling around the zone and picking up boss defeat rewards every 5-10 minutes. That adds a lot to the token accumulation. Week three is Takofanes himself, which is a daily, and a boss reward in itself, like the Defend Champions HQ mission.
My ongoing issue with MI & Lemuria is that too many of my Urban Crimefighters end up having to go there. There's no in-town mission content between Dr. Silverback and Vibora Bay. So unless I want to do roughly seven levels worth of alerts, I'm stuck. Spider-Man and Nightwing get one-off stories in exotic locales like…
No, STO uses Energy Credits in the Auction House, just like we use Globals(etc) here. Using the Dilithium equivalent for everything is Neverwinter's shtick, and is frankly annoying.
Keep one of each as souvenirs. They have vastly more interesting flavor text than the modern junk. Also, Bloodmoon event comes in October, and it drops scads of Mysticism mods you con use to make the jump to skill 400. (I got my main up in less than a week, but I also had five other characters feeding her their drops.)
That would be my local community of gamers. As a group, we tend to have a limited entertainment budget, and $15 a month for unlimited access to an adequately developed game environment (like WoW, LOTRO, or either Final Fantasy) is a good deal. Add the convenience of predictable, scheduled auto transactions, and the…
I do wish there were alternatives. Thematically, some characters (my namesake Avatar of the Goddess of Libraries) feel obligated to seek out and oppose Therakiel, while others, like Curvaceous, my super-strong knife-wielding street vigilante, wonder what the BLEEP all this apocalypse stuff is doing in her comic book.…
The sudden urge to sic the Cryptic/PWI lawyers and the NCSoft lawyers against one another is tempting and amusing. How many characters in CO are recreations of characters from CoH, after all?
Sorry Spinny, but a lot of your writing does come off as a bit condescending, and I say that as someone with no opinion whatsoever on your current discussion with warcanch. And until a dev comes out and actually explains what is going on, neither of your theories on the subject are going to be proven correct.
I'm going with "give us an alternative that works better with the game engine", with the caveat that if the devs aren't going to bother to do so, I'd rather see it reverted. I only have a couple "large" class characters, but I am annoyed that they are limited to "too large to access doors comfortably", and no longer"can…
I'm LTS, so I'm only minimally affected by the transition. However, my ability to convince my friends to rejoin or start playing has dropped drastically. They as a group despise the incremental-parts approach to being a paying customer, and prefer the earlier "subscribe, get the full game" style. My real worry is what…
Agreed. It would have to do something that Kinetic, a super speedster who fights by punching things really fast, can't do on his own. So flies, and allows him to battle things he can't/shouldn't touch. So one of those tankish things with the huge cannons. Or an UNTIL shuttle with decor like the Flash's party van, for the…
Which brings up the question, with a change of this magnitude, do characters with Wardicator/Guardicator get a free respec? The changes aren't at the "we turned your baseline ST DPS attack into a utility power" level (hi there Telekinesis), but this is a substantial change for a lot of characters. And I'm impressed that we…
Three cheers for someguywhoplaysgames for tracking down this solution! Still not perfect, due to the game engine (camera trails behind you looking perpendicular to the ground, need to revert if you want to zoom in on the character for screen shots), but far better than what we had.
FFXIV (and FFXI before it) work on the Job system, where any character can play every class in the game if they want. In fact, they encourage a certain degree of diversity, as you can slot in abilities from other classes while playing one in particular. So your Gladiator (sword and shield type) can get off a good opening…
For once I agree with Spinny. We're CHAMPIONS players, for the love of Grond! Our MMO is based on one of the most math intensive PnP games of all time!
I understand where the OP si coming from. The invisible tow-cable the camera is connected to your character by attaches at your center of gravity. This means, when flying horizontally across the landscape, it trails directly behind you. If you use the mouse or keyboard to get it slightly above your plane of movement to get…
It's been in the 400+ range for years, honestly. Basically, the value of Questionite is depressed because the Q-store hasn't had all that much in must-have items added to it, at least not in comparison to the Zen store, or the SCR/GCR store. Also, our Q-sinks are fairly limited: how often do you really need to unslot a…
So to prevent future lynchings, I should switch Lord Nemesis's robotic minions from Power Armor to something less prone to knocks/repels? Unfortunately, the next appropriate choice, Munitions, is also a bad choice due to shotguns.
While I don't mind the Devs having these little live-streaming discussion events, it would be really useful for them to post a short summary on the official communication channels. (In other words, the Forums) That way those of us who can't virtually attend (or hate game voice-overs in general and keep the voice chat…
