This is a strong AoE/ST build with decent survivability that has Wind/Fire/Electricity/Ice. Clinging Flames and Chilled are easy to keep up/refresh using Flashfire, Hurricane, Ice Blast, and Ice Sheathe, making multiple Rimefires frequent. You could shoehorn Earth in there somewhere if you really wanted, but you might…
If you're open to an Infernal/Celestial combo for your Nightbug build, here's my group support build. This is a very capable DPS/healer build, able to solo Elite lairs. The infernal powers can easily be re-colored to appear to be darkness powers (which is what I do, actually). I prefer this combo over Darkness/Celestial…
The easiest AoE's to level with are probably the ones that emanate centrally from the character such as Epidemic and Sword Cyclone. These allow you to simply run into groups of mobs or have them run into you, and simply hold down the button/key. No targeting even required. My level 40 farm build uses Epidemic in this…
In most high-damage rotations I've tested, working Chest Beam in for the debuff is actually a loss, and not an insignificant one. The highest PA DPS you'll get is unfortunately physical, with Mini Gun, Micro Munitions, and Tactical Missiles. Like particle builds, it's also a real energy hog, but DEX/INT/REC with some END…
That is exactly the reason. The high frequency of notifications misleads the gullible player into believing that the drop rates for the high end items are much higher than they are. It's a despicable psychological tactic.
All I'm saying is that you've typed an awful lot in this thread for someone who says they're okay with this development. I'd expect that kind of volume from someone stongly against it. It's more like you're defending it at this point, which is somewhat suspect, considering your association with Cryptic/PWE and position on…
For Biff: https://youtube.com/watch?v=zDAmPIq29ro Seriously, stop trying so hard; we all get it. For everyone else: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Wv5c2YR1lVE
This was directed to those who say they are against powers in lockboxes, but are okay with buying them on the AH after they've been liberated from said boxes by others. But disregarding anyway due to your apathy. Sure, this isn't world hunger we're discussing; it's a game. But it's a forum dedicated to said game, so don't…
I believe the argument that it's ok that powers are in lockboxes because we can buy those powers on the AH on the backs of those buying keys and opening boxes is disingenuous. If we as players are opposed to buying keys/gambling, then our access to powers shouldn't be dependent on how many tokens are being found and put on…
Though I share your sentiments, unfortunately, the shareholders in this case are shareholders of Perfect World (PWRD), not Cryptic Studios or even PWE. Champions Online is such a miniscule portion of what shareholders see in the bottom line that what happens in this game will affect shareholders not one whit.
At level 40 you're an apex predator and they're respecting you out of fear. At level 30 they'd try to rip your face off and wear it like a hat. It's all a matter of perspective.
I envision three stripes, two red and a center white, with maple leaves emanating from the mantle area similar to how they did the original Flag Flight. It should look... interesting.
The fact that STO didn't fold when they started putting new starships in lockboxes taught Cryptic/PWE what the market will bear. Here in CO we can either follow along in consensual silence, or voice our dissent and refuse to buy keys. My concern is that this tactic will work well enough to show that it's profitable and it…
While all your points are valid and well made, I believe the primary point at issue is the precedent this sets more than anything else. Today a token for an Ultimate unlock. Tomorrow entire new power sets, all new costume sets, access to new zones, etc. While it isn't likely we will ever have the developer resources for…
Placing powers in lockboxes is crossing the line in the sand. Shrug at this now and Cryptic will take that as silent consent to proceed with putting more and more content in them. This should be protested loudly and clearly. I will personally spend not another dollar on the game while this practice is continued.
Yes, please re-enable our custom titles. Without them, we might be mistaken for some average, off-the-street peon poster, which is simply intolerable. And while you're at it, please find a way to bring back our original join dates so that we know who here is important (and should be listened to) and who isn't. Post count…
Considering that Mars has moved you to start an entire thread on their new ad, I'd say it was money well-spent. No such thing as bad publicity and all that. I would agree with spar, though, that YouTube has become almost unusable with the new highly aggressive ad placement that they've ramped up recently. It's one of the…
Here's a Ms. Marvel homage I've been theorycrafting that uses energy projection powers as you've described. If you're familiar with Ms./Capt., she is very tough, super strong, and can project photonic energy from her hands. This might be able to serve as a framework for what you're looking for. It uses the particle energy…
Enraged scales off of STR, so that would be a necessity in this case. Enraged for ranged can work, but usually best when building a Melee/Force hybrid. Enraged benefits ranged attacks at about 50% of the damage it benefits melee. That's a change from how Enraged used to work (used to benefit all attacks at 100%), which is…
Thematically, Empathic Healing can be colored orange to look just like fire. I personally don't like maintained heals, but it's a good heal otherwise and can be self-targeted, unlike some others.
I know from testing that in a hybrid melee/ranged character with STR PSS and Enrage, the DPS parses slightly higher with STR mastery than Vindicator. The damage boosts provided from Vindicator are additive and can become greatly diminished by the Cryptic math that determines final damage, whereas STR mastery provides both…
Here's a thread from 2012 where bringing the Foundry to CO was discussed, and there is supposedly a Facebook quote from Emmert as well as a post from TrailTurtle that don't specifically indicate it's impossible. http://co-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=196621&highlight=foundry+tech (Nostalgic to see so many old…
This is where a Foundry could be infinitely helpful. From even just a fraction of the veteran community that still participates, I know we could get some really great content. As I recall, however, the lack of a Foundry in CO is not from insufficient resources, but from insurmountable technology.
I'm in the same camp as Monsterdaddy; there are few cases where I would not rank Aggressor. It synergizes so well on multiple levels with a STR/CON/Enrage/Wardicator build, both offensively and defensively.
That's something of a tradition in CO. I forget how it started exactly, (I believe it may have had something to do with a former player, Angel of Caine), but one of the other vets can enlighten you, I'm certain.
Summon a mercenary: "Brothers in Arms". Flamethrower/napalm attack: "Heavy Fuel". Globals drop buff: "Money For Nothing". Iron Lariat/Vile Lariat: "Where Do You Think You're Going?"
"Razor-sharp", as stated in the comic you posted, strongly implies a sharp edge, as razors are not known for their sharp tips/points. Regarding the skeletal questions, those are not as difficult to answer. My understanding was that the adamantium plating process did not remove the connective tissues between the bones…
There are at least two ways to look at news like this. We can continue to be bitter and cynical, which accomplishes nothing, or we can express hopefulness and positivity, which at least will let Cryptic know there is still interest in the game. It costs nothing to pursue the latter, with a better potential payout than the…
Might/Force is pretty much right in my wheelhouse; it's my favorite hybrid build type. I can tell you from lots of experience with this combo that you will be energy hungry with Invincibility, especially if you intend to fire off any FC's. Without more END, you won't even be able to fully charge it. AoPM can alleviate this…
Even so, I would argue that EGO/CON/INT with tertiary REC is better. Yes, you won't get quite as much energy return from Overdrive, but you won't need as much, plus you'll have lower cooldowns to boot. I wish it weren't so, but it is. If only Cryptic could have reworked energy and the associated stats/unlocks before we…
You look like you've got the bone structure to pull off some Helena Bonham Carter characters like the Queen of Hearts from Tim Burton's Alice or Sweeney Todd's squeeze.
It's really unfortunate that in most cases, INT makes for a much better energy-related secondary stat than either REC or END. There are few cases where I can justify taking either over it, as neither is anywhere near as versatile. It's usually preferable to gear for them if desired.
