Power Armor - Slot question

What exactly does Hand, Chest, Shoulder slot mean? Can I only have 1 power per slot? 2 per slot? 1 active at a time? In detail if possible, what does the slot type do to a power?

    you can have 1 hand,1 chest and 1 shold slot all running at the same time.

    Ok,. so basically if I have 2 shoulder powers and have one running, some sort of graphical icon/message will prevent me from firing the other.

    If you have 2 shoulder powers and have one running, clicking on the other one should replace the active one (in most cases).
