Current level cap is 40. Don't be surprised when that goes up in a patch or two, and more content is added, and the cap hits 50.
It's a rather clever trick for MMO design: MMOs are very expensive to make, requiring a lot of people working a lot of hours. Until the game is launched you don't generate any revenue, only debt. Fortunately, once you launch, you start generating ridiculous revenue (and if you're any good, continue to generate it).
So a smart developer (Cryptic's done this in the past, and it's the mainstay of Blizzard's business model) releases most of the content at first, or at least a big enough chunk to keep everyone happy, they collect their retail price for the disks and start collecting those crazy monthly fees, and turn that money around into the content that will keep people playing once they've finished the content that's already there.
Put it another way, Cryptic *has* the 40-50 content, and it's pretty awesome and epic, it's just not finished or polished yet. But it's fine, because the players won't be levelled and geared enough to handle it for a few months anyhow.

A few months? Is there an XP cliff coming up where you cannot level? You do sound like you have some inside info there to, mentioning you know level 40-50 is "pretty awesome".

Wonder how fast it will takr the hardcore guildies to hit 40 I wonder....
Yeah, it doesn't take long to hit max level in this game. I don't mind this, as long as there is content to do at max level or a reason to keep playing. Hopefully that extra content will get released by the end of the month....
Well the first thing you have to do when you hit 40 is start building up unity and nemesis points to get decent gear... as well as farm mats for crafted stuff.
