Need advice on new energy projector buld

So I have finished my Fire blaster, and it was a great success and a lot of fun! So effective and fun that I worry whether other characters will equal it!

For my next character, I would like to marry character concept and DPS/survival effectiveness. The concept: A human endowed with primal energy now uses energy ranged attacks to decimate foes. Therefor his attack powers should be themed as energy-looking attacks. Definitely NO grenades, guns, or other obvious tech or devices!

I also plan on taking the Defense Passive Regeneration. I have wanted to try Regen on my next character, and it is explainable in concept by the characters energy core.

To recap, this is my playstyle: I solo, PvE only, and will ONLY be playing this character from 1 to 40. I want to enjoy levelling this character to 40, after which I will be done with him.

I will almost certainly be using Armadillo Armor for the 1-40 level since it does two AWESOME things: it's bonuses go up while I level, meaning I am not constantly having to find new armor as I outlevel the old, PLUS it gives me 50% damage resistance, which is more survival cushioning.

As to super stats, I like NOT having to pump my energy builder until AFTER the alpha strike, so I enjoy a high equilibrium. So I was wondering about taking Int and Rec? I had high Rec on my Fire guy and loved it. Or maybe Int/End or End/Rec?

I do think I should have Ego as one of the 3 super stats, it boosts ranged damage and I am all about ranged damage.

Not sure which should be Primary, in terms of Advantages. If I take End as Primary, I could possibly skip taking Rec at all with the advantage Readiness. So that could make End/Ego/Int an option?

I will almost certainly be taking tunneling as my travel power, it is tactically superior to every other choice, and great for Alphas or skipping trash baddies.

Thoughts? I want to be both survivable and have great solo DPS, all with a character that looks like he is flinging energy at his enemies.

Thanks

I'd take Con SS to help w/ survivability, esp when leveling. More Con helps w/ Regen cause it gives more wiggle room for Regen to recover from inc dmg (its a very strong solo passive, though its weak to heavy hits or high burst dmg).

I'd prob take a SS setup that has one SS devoted to ur toggle (likely Concentration), one of Rec or End (prob Rec if ya want the equilib), and Con. To me that'd be either CON/Int/Rec for more survivability and knock resistance w/o needing strength, or INT/Rec/Con or EGO/Rec/Con for higher dps. Guardicator for the specs, as a safe bet.

As far as powers, that's all on you. Ya got potentially many to pick from for an energy projector (all the Elementalist trees and possibly the Supernatural ones, I'm guessing). Its a bit to broad for me to give any real advice there atm- perhaps you should post a rough prototype build that you think embodies ur vision for the character.

Well, I don't know if this makes a synergy problem, but what if I took a bunch of the Power Armor energy attacks? That's was why was kind of focused on taking two of the three End, Rec, Int, since I hear that PA can be an energy hog what with launching multiple attacks all at once.

Also, I need advice because I don't know what other powers look like cool pure energy attacks. Fire looks like fire, so no. Same for Wind, Ice, Lightning. I don't want to have to keep chasing baddies around or blow them into other groups, so I think any Force powers that have KnockBack are out. What does that leave that are *powerful* ranged attacks that look energy-esque? Especially Area of Effect energy looking attacks?

I kind of want to avoid Con, for a couple of reasons:
    a) I didn't have it on my fire guy and did just fine with Armadillo 50% Dmg Res, + PFF, + Strategic play.
    b) I really think I MUST have EGO as a super stat for +ranged dmg, so that leaves me only 2 SS picks. I am wondering if those two SS's come from Int/Rec/End that means that I will have TONS and TONS of energy? That could be cool. Anytime I can ignore my energy builder is good times.

I was wondering how much the Endurance advantage Readiness increase Equilibrium? Perhaps Endurance/Ego/Int IF Readiness really pops Equilibrium up? Also, what does Overdrive scale with - or do I want to use MSA - or something else - as my Energy Unlock?

    Thanks!

For PA, you'll want primarily Rec for energy, since OD scales best w/ that (tooltip is misleading). Problem with PA powers is that ya kinda have to go all-in since slotted PA powers disable non-slotted powers when used (and there's a small delay in dropping that window after slotted powers end or are stopped). MSA + Int can work for PA, but not as seamlessly if ur using multiple PA toggles or maintains.

PFF is possibly the only passive that can get away w/o Con just fine. Regen lacks the large shield over ur health, and actually works off ur health to help keep you up. But then again, most solo leveling content isn't that hard, so it'll somewhat depend on how/where ya level (and for instanced stuff, on what setting).

Hmmm. Then what would I run if I wanted the whole energy projector look? I'm stumped.

Back to the drawing board. I need to find 2 or 3 really high damage energy look attacks, and if one was AoE that wouldn't be bad.

    Hmmm.

Question: can you make a highly effective Power Armor solo DPS if you skip all the powers that look like tech? I'm guessing that would mean skipping Tactical Missiles, MiniGun, MicroMunitions, Shoulder Launcher to name a few - and any other non-energy looking power.

    Thanks.

You mean making a Particle dmg-based PA build?

Yeah, of course. The Particle options are fine, they just overall aren't the optimal dps setup for Ranged PA (which is Minigun + TM + Micro Muni, Quarry, and Avenger Mastery). Even w/o the optimal picks, you can still get good dps w/ 2-3 PA slots running at once.

I may give that a shot, after all, if it doesn't work I can always respec.

EDIT: One of the nicest things about CO is the ability to go to the PowerHouse and try out different choices and test in battle rooms over and over again. With my last Fire character there were times I spent 2-3 days in the powerhouse just testing before committing to a specific thought.

Here's a Ms. Marvel homage I've been theorycrafting that uses energy projection powers as you've described. If you're familiar with Ms./Capt., she is very tough, super strong, and can project photonic energy from her hands. This might be able to serve as a framework for what you're looking for. It uses the particle energy PA powers that are not toggles, thereby not locking you out from using other powers at the same time.

I went in the other direction - all Particle attacks, all toggles. Regeneration. Working pretty well.

Some build thoughts I have on it are here:
