I've been digging pretty far back in the build forums, and just google searching for build ideas... and found that a few years back ranged Enrage builds were kind of popular for a while. Now, this is something I have NO experience with, and was wondering if you can still do it.
So... I tried to bang out something... it's probably all wrong. I'm shooting for (no pun intended... oh what the heck, pun intended), mostly Force, and lots of AoE.... as much AoE as possible, and stacking Enrage, because.... um.... that makes the damage go up, right?
Now, what I DON'T know, is... do I need to stat Ego (because of Ranged knocks) or Strength (because of straight up knocks, and maybe Enrage HAS to have Strength to trigger?. Now, I actually tried this build in PH and ran around town with it a little, and it did... okay I guess, but I didn't see Enrage actually STACKING, just one icon of it.
And yes, I'd prefer it to be defensive, hence Defiance and a little bit of healing abilities. It is most likely not a finished build idea at this time. Because, as some of you know, I do like to add a second slotted power, like Night Warrior or Regen, so I can "shift gears". Part of the fun of having a FF.
Anyway, Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give me

There is a STR spec to make your STR count toward your ranged knocks instead of EGO, but it's not point for point, and honestly there are much better choices in the tree to waste points on it.
Lastly, Force knocks are not nearly as reliable for triggering Enraged stacks as melee knocks are. It's nice when it happens, but it's pretty random.
Maybe I'll just go back to my prior mixed-Rimefire build after all lol.

Not ideal for dps, but has some other perks to it. Gearing for some End on the side for Defiance and FC energy.

By gearing for END, you mean to make better use of the energy you get from getting hit while using Defiance, right? Because honestly that's something I never would have thought of

"Enrage provides a powerful boost to your power based off of your strength score. That's the good part; high strength characters do massive melee damage using this toggle, even without critical hits. The problem, however, is its difficulty to stack - You must knock your targets to get stacks, or otherwise use other unusual tactics. To its credit, Enrage's length is dependent on your constitituion - whereas other toggles have stacks that only last 20 seconds, Enrage can easily get in excess of 35 by stacking Con.
Endorphin Rush - Whenever you stack enrage, you gain a very weak Heal over Time effect. The strength of the heal is determined by your Constitution, while the length of the heal is determined by defiance stacks - meaning both do serve to boost the heal's overall potential. A very minor survivability buffer, though also one of the few Toggle upgrades that does help out"
Now... the whole reason I thought about trying it as a slot power for a ranged toon is because it says "Enrage provides a powerful boost to your power based off of your strength score." NOT "Enrage provides a powerful boost to your MELEE power based off your strength score"
What exactly does Enrage do, anyway? does it boost ALL attack power, or does it boost just certain stats? Does it boost strength, dexterity? I honestly haven't thought about it before.
And I'm currently combing through Power House, because I'm searching for a power, I swear there was one that lets you stack enrage by how many times you hit, or get hit... I'm all absent minded today babysitting someone's sick dog. Or dogsit lol. But I swear, I'm not actually sitting on the dog!!! Because... he would bite the crap outta me.
EDIT: Found it, the adv on Unbreakable must be what I was thinking about, Better You Than Me. Unless there's others... <_<
Its still worth noting that the dmg bonus is in the lowest/passive layer of the dmg formulas, so once ur geared out it doesn't have as much of an effect on final dmg done- at least for FFs. As a rough example, a +100% passive dmg bonus for 8 stacks of a dps toggle may only result in about 20% final dmg added to a geared & dps-oriented FF.
Yea, the power ur prob thinking of is Unbreakable w/ its special adv- which gives ya Enrage stacks when getting hit w/ Unbreakable up. It can only give ya >1 Enrage if ur currently using an Enrage-granting toggle, though (else the stacks will fall off as this game doesn't allow you to benefit from >1 toggle stacks at once, for balance reasons). Aggressor also gives ya extra Enrage stacks when activated (depending on rank), and there's certain combos like Uppercut + Haymaker, or Roomsweeper in AoE, that give extra Enrage stacks when used in the corresponding situation.

I'm sure you know what it's like when a toon seems to take on a life and personality of it's own. The Force thing just doesn't seem optimal. Now I'm looking into the unarmed Martial Arts skills and keep coming across this term "Focus". I was wondering if there might be a build out there for a ranged ninja type character, but with moves that maximize this Focus thing. Now, as far as I can tell, it works like Defiance or maybe Enrage stacks? There's got to be a way to maximize Focus stacks, right? If you know of a awesome Unarmed Build (that still has room for me to put my throwing weapons) then please let me know about it)
Basically I'm getting tired of playing Scourge-based toons all the time, and am looking for something different, but that still has awesome ranged capability, and when gets swarmed, can let loose with some Bruce Lee type-shizzle.
Ironically, the SS's i have down for this toon are DEX / CON / STR, so... yea... energy issues are likely.
From what I've read, if you have a stack of Focus, and then execute a Dragon move, you get a "Rush" effect, which gives you extra energy? Is it possible to stack Focus? Or is it just a single stack buff thing?
Basically, is there a build that would allow me the max amount of Focus building, and still let me use NW and my 'rangs, and some kicks and punches?
Thanks so much for your help! :D
Yea, if ya use a fully charged 'Dragon' move from MA w/ a Focus toggle running, ya get the Rush buff. Rush is MA's pseudo-energy unlock (not a true one, though, since ya can still get an EU w/ it running). It reduces melee attack costs (by ~15% iirc), while also giving ya a large amount of energy over time (which also scales w/ Dex; tooltip is wrong there). Rush can't be stacked, but one stack gives plenty energy over its duration.
If using Focus, ya can always take a DEX/Con/Int SS setup, possibly w/ MSA, and w/ Rush + FotT ya shouldn't have any energy issues. Do keep in mind that all the moves that give Rush are melee, though. INT/Dex/Con or CON/Dex/Int could also work, depending on ur priorities.
Ya can certainly make an Unarmed MA build that still uses Shurikens (Storm and Throw)- in fact, Shuriken Storm is one of the few 'good' AoEs in MA, and Throw is decent as a ranged interrupt (due to its knockdown). Since Unarmed has so many attacks, and many ways to build around them, you'll want to play around w/ the different attacks and see which ones ya like the look/feel of the most.
