    Well, if it's between A New Hope and Empire that could also explain the sexual tension between Han and Leia as it was being brow beaten on everyone during Empire.

    You're all working under the assumption that it's not legal for Han to be married to multiple people in a galaxy far far away or whatever planet he got married on.

    Pretty sure Lucas, some where at some time said that the Republic/Empire practiced Monogamy. *shrugs* I don't see Disney trying to change that anyways, since it is a taboo thing.
