ahh, the week where all the zen on the Q exchange vanishes in the first hour and then comes back in drabs and drabs at 500.

yes, someone was discussing how they had, 120 q boxes from alerts, waiting to open on double Q weekend.

Wait--during double Q weekend, there will be tons of Q flooding the market.

That means that Zen will cost 500 each.

That means Q effective value is less (except for things like Vigilante gear).

That means saving Q boxes for Q week is a bad idea.

I don't think Q box amounts will be doubled.
There is nothing in the announcement about that.

They will be, except for the 1500Q box. That's the way it's always worked before.

    The Questionite Crates don't double.

Remember when you had Questionite boost (device or gear) that they worked for Gravitar. Then the change to a static drop making Q gear useless once more.

Don't build retroactively, just ruin everything old.

Q bonus set only increases the amount of questionite mobs drop. It won't work on Rampages, q boxes, AP/Comic completion, or while you are on your vehicle.

The amount of Q you get is not comparable to a solid Nemcon run's q boxes and you really only see a true benefit during Q hour (+1 Q per mob defeated).

It was 490 per Z before the event, it was 470 last week and it's 463 this week.

Meanwhile Q week has seen the lowest player counts in the game's history (since free to play).

Thats only steam though, it doesnt take in account the people that dont play through steam.

Of course it's inaccurate. And if the Steam numbers hadn't fallen off, he'd have done his own version of a survey by taking a screenshot of the number of people in MC (without any note onscreen about the time of day). If that didn't give him the low numbers he sought, he'd have massaged the numbers another way.

See, nextname has been predicting the death of CO for years now; he needs the numbers to show a decline so he can keep doomcrying. We pretty much ignore him now.

he's obviously missed all the posts in the last 3-4 months about people not being able to login or stay logged in.
I know about the same time each evening I get hit with the lag of death and disconnect.

STO got some of their login issues fixed and some of the update "what did it break this time" issues fixed.

and since double Q week is now in it's third week, people have probably either thought it's finished or just got sick of farming. It's not as if there's much good to buy with it.

and we're due for another lockbox or good sale soon, for some reason nobody is interested in Become: Black talon common even at a reduced price.

Wouldn't have anything to do with it dropping ingame.

    You know nothing, Jon Sills.

My screenshots have dates and times, in the file name and in the file record along with player counts.
    Nyd1w5w.png

These are all zones in use right now at 4:52AM server time (1:01pm in Britain). Outside MC Canada had the most people, ten! Look how lively Canada is! Well Caprice had 15 but I'm not going in there.

Map change screen reports 82 players in Ren Cen with Steam Charts reporting 118 players in the game and the social menu reporting 199 players online, ie, Steam charts accounts for more than half of all online players. All that matters is knowing the approximate number in Ren Cen when team requests go unfulfilled, alert queues stop popping frequently, and zone chat goes silent for several minutes at a time.

Show me where I've fudged the numbers, Jon?

Not including those who are hidden, the Millennium City Zone numbers accounts for about 50% of players in the game or less. Those are pretty good numbers for a game that gets borderline no development.

What's less interesting is that someone forgot to turn Q week off. Seems no one is at the helm.

Interesting. That highlighted one at the top - are in you North America? And if so, do you honestly expect CO, a superhero-oriented MMO without all the "gotta go raid with my guild" nonsense prevalent in places like WoW, would be heavily populated at six in the morning? Dude, at 6am, I'm either busy getting ready for my day and getting my kids off to school, or sleeping. Most of the other times in your file have similar issues. You're expecting heavy populations both during the day and at midnight.

In other words, good job cherry-picking. You do indeed illustrate Sam Clemens' old adage, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."

The most important stat to me is whether the game's still running. The second most important stat is whether I have friends online. The third important stat is whether there are new players that I can get to know.

It'd be nice if the server pop was higher. But I don't see the point in getting into arguments over it.

Judging CO's future based on what Cryptic does with the game and behind the scenes is much easier. They know what the numbers are, while anyone else can only speculate based on incomplete data.

That's ok, according to his reasoning, Neverwinter is in its death throes too.

here's its steam chart from the start. You can see the bumps for expansions are getting smaller.
and the amount of little bumps from events.
    http://steamcharts.com/app/109600#All

also when Well of Dragons came out,
    there was a bunch of complaint threads out about ;
being unable to get dungeon queues to pop,
not enough people to do the outside group dragon open missions,

they've also gone from 3 shards with between 40 and 50 full instances in the city when it first started to one shard with about 20 full, before I left.
and a lot of the supposed players on are gold sellers farming, you can watch them go in and out fo the entry points of the Foundry missions with the generic characters.

and that's in just under 2 years. With advertising, with updates, and CO has been out 5 1/2 years and gets F....all, updates and zero advertising.

I'd say we're doing damn good.
quick count this morning, 1.48pm server time, using find person by level.

    1-10- 100 limit
    10-20(minus 10's) 95 (still 100 limit)
    20-30- 63(minus 20's)
    30-40- 99 (minus 30's)
= minimum of 357, taking into account the 100 limit on find person.

But I'm not talking about Neverwinter, it has 2,137 Steam players online at the moment , Champions has 235.

It was afternoon in Europe, where's all those people?
Do they wait til 2AM their time to jump on to the American "prime time" and run alerts?
No we know they are playing other games, because a year or two ago those games didn't exist but now they have thousands of players online at the same hour that Champions has a little over 200.

The 'new content' is a broken robot suit that looks like content from other unpopular games.
Do you eat undercooked imitation meat? If this was a restaurant there would be health codes that would shut it down for serving what they are serving.

The only method to apply the new content, the tailor, the first thing players experience in the game, has been broken for over a year after being hobbled for more than a year before that.

What's your judgement about what's been going on behind the scenes (lay offs) and what Cryptic does with the game (unfixed bugs in a major feature for over a year)?

That doesn't change the fact that while you are playing and killing zone chat conversation with your know it all attitude (around 11 to 11:30pm server time) there are only 120 people or less in Millennium City.

Eff that, I'll be sleeping. Also: If you want people from your region to play with, recruit them.

You forgot to mention the stuff you can't see. No game company is stupid enough to throw resources at a game they intend to throw in a gutter. But what did CO get? An experienced dev team. Also, signs point to being busy with slow website updates and that whole Q-week thing becoming Q-month. Those things aren't a priority for someone who wears multiple hats in a company. What happens may not be big, but I'm guessing it's not "CO is shutting down tomorrow."

You can sit here and be grumpy all you want or you can go play a game with people from your region and be happy.
