external Monitor laptop issues

Hello, used to play this game a lot until I moved and had video card issues, recently acquired an old laptop and connected it to a 1440x 900 monitor. I tried opening up champions online and it said i wasn't using the proper monitor/resolution and gave me the option to disable the multimonitor warning. I use Mageia 4.0 Linux, if there is anything i can do to fix this please tell me

as an update i can now get into the game through safe mode but once i reach the l section where it sends you the verification code it crshes when i try to enter it

Try setting your laptop resolution to match that of your monitor.

Run the game in safe mode and select that resolution under video options, then re-run normally.

I just checked the laptop screen and it's the same resolution as my screen, i suppose it has something to do with wine.
