Since Nvidia added DSR to their drivers, CO locks up when starting at any resolution above 2560x1600. Sometimes it locks when changing resolution, too, but it always locks when starting the game at the Cryptic logo with a sliver of the progress bar. Worse, it locks on top of the Z-order, so it covers up Task Manager if you try to use it to kill GameClient.exe. I have to sign out of Windows or reboot.
On my desktop, this is no big deal. I have a 1080p display, so I can go back to running at native and using /renderscale 2.0 for the global 2x supersampling. DSR resolutions up to and including 2560x1600 work just fine.
On my laptop, I have a 2880x1800 native display, but the GPU is too old/slow/mobile to even enable DSR in the drivers. Here, I use the inverse of my desktop: Run the game at 2880x1800, and lower the renderscale for performance and to prevent the keyboard from burning my hands. Since DSR was added to the drivers, however, 2880x1800 is completely broken, even though it's not a DSR resolution on this display.
I was worried that it was a Champions Online Has a Crappy Old Version of Cryptic Engine problem, but I downloaded STO on my laptop and tried some of the same tests, and it's broken there, too.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
I have the same problem as well. Running a triple monitor setup on windows 8.1 Pro and it locks up on resolution change or startup in high resolution mode. ALL the cryptic games are broken for me now.
