Please, someone from Cryptic tell me...Why in the name of all that is holy do the colors for the Base Costume NOT match the color palette for the Tights???

In all but a few rare instances, they are totally different shades!! I don't understand!! WHYYYYY?????

Color palettes for skin and tights were separated to (in theory) prevent players from making indecent costumes.

Which, of course, did not prevent players from making indecent costumes anyway (but at least bonus points for trying, lulz).

But, of course, it proved to work very well at limiting costume variety for everyone else, but such is life.

I suspected as much, but I honestly couldn't believe they'd be that...well, stupid. No, I take that back, it doesn't surprise me at all. There are still ways around it, of course, it's just a headache and requires hours of sitting there comparing shades. But it can be done. What doesn't match is easily disguised with a few separating pieces of jewelry or accessories.

Still and all, the mere fact they actually thought this was a good idea is patently laughable.

For me it's not even the skin tones that bug me but it's all those other shades we have that aren't considered skin that aren't in there. They need to give up that nude thing and merge both sides with the same colors.

And crack down on the nude costumes (which isn't really that big of an issue.)

I mean seriously...we sell little girls Barbi dolls that look the same.

To keep people from making stuff that may be against their TOS?

I can definitely see the advantages in having access to a full colour pallet for costume making, but it'd more than often be used to make nude characters. And knowing a good portion of RPers in the game, it'd more than likely be used for that purpose.

Tbh, I use the only skin tone available in the pallete to make nice dresses or cool attired. For example, you can make a back less dress with side-shoulder straps using it!

If people go about nude, just report them! Don't compromise on those with more creative ideas!

That's in ToS and Community Rules & Policies, not in EULA.

And it did not help anyway, people still can and do build nude costumes just fine.

Separated palettes did not change too much, if anything...

I personally can't figure out why we can dress up our characters in bras and panties that barely cover anything and leave nothing to the imagination, but we don't have a single keyhole option.

Got to love those updated, inconsistent video game rating restrictions. About as useless as the CCA....

Thanks for the correction and I honestly agree with that. It might not solve the problem right away, but it'll give people something to think about.

What if my costume is that my character is actually wearing flesh-colored tights tho? People do that in real life sometimes... like Maddy Ziegler.

Patently? Probably not. It's possible that Cryptic didn't have a choice in the matter if they were to keep their T rating. Shouldn't be so quick to call them stupid on something you haven't really wrapped your head around, yet.

WOW. 4 pages of thread on my post about massive server disconnects happening more and more frequently, and not a peep from Cryptic. Start a thread about skin tones...dare to insinuate they are laughable...and BAM, they weigh in before a dozen posts. Priceless.

Yeah I don't work for them, I'm a community volunteer. Otherwise I'd say "us" instead of "them." I wish I could help with the server disconnects but I'm powerless there.

I would want the PSI outfit's pink color. There are a couple on our palette that are pretty close, but still a tad bit off when put side-by-side.

in my beginning days i did this in a Caliga helm and sneakers. I made it to be an actual character in tight but of course i looked naked...that was the point too.

Some cool tattoo, scar, or burn effects could also be achieved with a more open color range.

Listen, kids might be playing this game and we can't let kids play with things that could be naked even if those naked areas have little to no definition.

Because a teenager seeing naked Barbie figures is a more stressful and traumatic experience for certain parents than violence and smashing faces with a chair.

See "Hot Coffee", a mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The main plot of the game deals with gangs, violence, drug trafficking, prostitution, fraud, murder for hire, double-crossing two or three Mafia families, and more RICO charges than you could shake a federal prosecutor at - but what bent some folks out of shape was that there was a mod you could apply to the PC version that let you see something that approximated sex in much the way flesh-colored tights approximate nudity here.

Far better to have a kid fall victim to gun violence then have sex.

And the characters were even clothed during it. Sometimes it almost seems like people start complaining about something before they ever see it, just because somebody else told them they should start complaining.

My theory is that those parents have dirty minds, and when you tell them "the game lets you see two people having sex" they immediately start imagining expansive scenes of perverted debauchery. Meanwhile in San Andreas, CJ is rubbing his pants on a girl's butt.

No, it's all part and parcel of the same thing - folks getting freaked out about something that's only sexy in their imaginations. Seriously, check out a YouTube vid of that so-called "minigame". It's about as titillating as the beginning of Kill Bill Pt. 1 - maybe slightly less so, as what happens in Kill Bill actually is some folks' kink, but I can't envision Hot Coffee being anyone's turn-on. Similarly, while trying to make a nekkid toon in CO might appeal to some of the kids, it's about as sexually stimulating as a Barbie doll, because it's about as detailed as one.
