This is becoming a thing...maybe always has been a thing but it sure seems a lot more frequent lately. Even when it isn't the entire server, I have been seeing a lot of disconnects that affect everyone in any given particular locale...12, 15, 20 people at a time. So before anyone starts with the "It's your computer" argument--it isn't.
Sure would love some input or feedback from Cryptic staff on this.
I can attest to this issue. Entire scores of people online magically get disconnected, myself included. It appears to be happening more regularly as well. It will start with a sudden SNR, after the SNR you have a 50/50 shot of staying on or being taken off. Perhaps there is a bad wire somewhere or one of the ISPs between the datahop isn't working right. Lately though, my net's been utter crap due to the bad lines and changing weather rolling in.

Cryptic's data center is in the Boston area, which got another blizzard today. They were saying on the national news this morning that today's storm had high enough wind speeds to be effectively a snow hurricane. I just did a traceroute, and it still gets a little spiky on the last few Boston cogentco.com hops.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends

That hasn't got a darn thing to do with the weather where Cogentco's involved. Cogentco throttles bandwidth all the time, ESPECIALLY in Boston. I have done multiple, multiple traceroutes over the last year since the SNR's and disconnects seemed to worsen, and almost invariably the pings go through the roof at the Cogentco Boston location every time. We can thank our government for allowing it in their ever-burgeoning search to tax the internet and make consumers pay extra for the 'privilege' of using more bandwidth in places like MMO's.
But the issue where multiple people all get DC'd simultaneously seems to be a Cryptic problem, not a Cogentco problem. My other MMO's don't do that. Certainly not as frequently, not even close. Whether this is related to the persistent memory leak that has plagued so many players in recent weeks is up for debate, but either way, it really needs a closer look and possibly some maintenance.
Actually, you can't blame this one on the government. They haven't gotten around to passing any regulations about internet service yet; in fact, the FCC has some pretty good proposals for "open internet" up for review right now.

I got DC'd twice while running Vincit Omnia through Tulzgorat's lair. Third time, I guess I got a better connection, because I was able to take down Tulzgorat, stop Rakshasa from waking Kigatilik, turn in the missions, and go back to MC and hang out for a while before logging off.
I don't get it - usually it's STO that's dropping my connection, not CO. This week, though, STO's been pretty well steady aside from a little minor rubberbanding, while CO's been rocky as all get-out.

if it's any consolation, STO & Nevermind are on the same server and they get dc'd at the same time.
While I have seen this happen, it has not affected me. So don't worry, even if all of the rest of you get disconnected, I will keep on clearing the Grab for when you log back in

Yeah. I'm currently looking out the window at a 6 foot high, 15 wide, 60 foot long wall of snow in our parking lot. The parking lot across the street is up to 12 feet. They've been bringing in dump trucks to start pulling it out.
There is so much snow outside that I actually looked up if there was some sort of directly anti-wiccan religion just so I could hate on nature more u3u
It's funny watching my dogs try to make their way through it though... golden retrievers are just so motivated when it comes to fetching a ball o3o

Tonight, 9:22 PM EST, massive server disconnect. I was in the Loading screen after character select when I got a SNR, then I watched as person after person on my Friends list "Logged Off" all at once. In other words, all simultaneously DC'd.
This is the second thread I've put up discussing this ever-increasing issue, and lo and behold, STILL not a peep from Cryptic here. Considering this obviously happens to two other games besides CO all at the same time...now happening every day...you'd THINK they would have a vested interest in damage control and public relations....
I haven't gotten any of the DC's, but man was playing this morning like driving over corrugated metal for about an hour. Yeah, something weird's going on.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
