Has anyone got a list of these? I once read an explanation to the effect of, "attacks that aren't flagged as originating from the player-character will not break stealth". After a tiny little bit of testing, I know that a partial list of these is:
Gas Pellets
Particle Mine
Strafing Run
Are there others?
PS I've also noticed that occasionally, very occasionally, mobs were hitting me even though I was stealthed and had only dropped Pellets and the Mine. I'm assuming this was due to their using AoE attacks on the Mine, but that's a bit of a guess.
Counting only attacks and not other types of powers:
-Mini Mines
-Particle Mine
-Strafing Run
-Orbital Cannon
-Summoning Sigils (whether they deal dmg or not)
-Summoning Pets (including Nightmares and Shadows)
-Summoning Entities (ex. Dust Devil, Gas Arrow, Pellets, Collective Will)
-Activating On-Next-Hit powers (ex. Sonic Device, Mini Drive), though you'll need a direct attack to use them (which will likely break stealth)
Most non-damaging things won't break stealth either (ex. Ego Placate, Illumination, Smoke Grenade).
Also, mobs can detect you in stealth if you get too close to them. In group instances, many mobs can see through stealth (or at least see through it easier than in solo content).
BTW, Sentinel Aura will break your own stealth if its in your build. once every 3 seconds. its a horrible ridiculous bug.
Only if you actually (attempt to) heal something with it.
Unfortunately, the aura tries to heal some really bizarre things sometimes, such as the plane that flies overhead when you use Strafing Run.
One power I use is Ego Storm with the Malevolent Manifestation advantage. Incredibly handy for staying stealthed while building Manipulator stacks and/or disabling enemies to set up for a spike-damage barrage.
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!
Damage over time however (DoT) DOES break stealth, which is silly, and means its almost worthless going night warrior with a single blade or telepathy DoT/Toxic build.
I wouldn't really say that. If stealth fits the concept its still good to have Sneak and Shadow Strike, and NW gives a versatile dmg boost besides. There are def worse passives to pick if ya have a wider array of dmg types.
The temp ones like Ego Placate will only work once on bosses, usually, and even then its not a true threat drop. The 'real' threat wipes like Absolve and SoM (when it procs) do still work regardless of ur threat level and regardless of what you have threat on. Going into Sneak in the middle of combat is more like a placate, but not quite - the enemy ignores you, but ur threat level isn't wiped and will be remembered when revealed.
I should probably start a separate thread, since now I'm wondering about the details of a specific character, but eh.
So I was having some fun toe-bombing guys, but now I'm wondering if a ranged non-Stealth/Sneak breaker might be just as if not more fun. I've been futzing around in the PH with a Dust Devil/Ball Lightning/Strafing Run guy, and it's not bad. But...I can't find a decent Toggle/Form to use. Concentration, the ostensibly obvious choice, doesn't seem to proc off Dust Devil OR Ball Lightning. And none of those seem to crit, so Tempest is out.
Had a full stealth character for awhile and just recently changed his powerset, but thought I had gas grenades. Can test that if you're going that route.
I never knew ego placate worked on bosses at all. I remember using it many times on bosses when I had aggro, and the only thing that happened was the application of the debuff. aggro was still mine.
I'll double check though.
The placate adv for Smoke Grenade works that way- it'll re-direct the boss once, until ya damage them, and then they come back to you and it'll stop working. So I assume its the same for Ego Placate (though it'd be amusing if Ego Placate's effect is even weaker than a special adv for a diff power).

The Ego Storm toggle adv + Manip option given earlier can work out for something like that. Otherwise, ya could still stack Conc, but that'd take using a normal ranged attack as ur filler.
I have been experimenting with this on the test server. It is fun but watch out for bosses wit AOE's they can pop you out of stealth. I might retcon one of my tunes and see how it will work in alerts. Normal PVE it is a riot.

Ego Placate is limited to Henchmen to Enforcer and does not work on anything above this classification, including players.
The only decent part of this power really, is Svengali's guile. At least that's a meaningful debuff in combat.
Last time I tried it, Telekinesis didn't break stealth either, but I don't know if any updates have changed that. It's been a while.
Confirmed that Telekinesis does not break stealth.
Just wish it was a more useful power, since it is useless when there is nothing around for it to toss. I surely love it when there are objects to be tossed. Gravitar fight only has the 2 mailboxes and 1 lamppost and they invariably get busted from someone's AoE.

Huh, well Smoke Grenade's placate does work on bosses, but its honestly not that helpful either way since its on a long icd. I would rather have the -dmg debuff option for bosses over that.
But yes, I was mistaken; not all placates work quite the same, and the only effective aggro drops on bosses will be threat wipes- not placates.
