Energy Builder randomly toggles on

So i'll be sitting and talking to people with my controller near me, my mouse off out of the way, and not hitting any number keys and suddenly mobs will come charging in and attack me. This isn't a threat, but it's distracting. Then I look down and see that my energy builder is toggled on, autotargeting things. It isn't even set to BE a toggle; in controls, I have it set to behave as a maintain. Any ideas what might be happening?

Escape key > options > controls

Scroll way down and check for 'never auto target objects' or something like that, it should be off.
Maybe you have 'target attacking enemy' or whatever it says on to.

I get in so much trouble because I accidentally toggle targeting on.

Also the radiant aura and primal majesty, especially together in a team seemed to suck down aggro all the time.
Or maybe its jet boots...one or all three of those always seemed to cause trouble in a team in crowded places like Westside.

What's the relationship between targeting and the EB activating as a toggle?

Auto-Targeting on will automatically target enemies or objects, and if auto-fire is set to toggle and, the energy builder is toggled on it will shoot things that are in range, sometimes it starts blasting benches and mailboxes. Probably when you mouse click on something.

If you have melee energy builder it will taunt enemies.

There's a setting to auto-select the attacking enemy, maybe you are just standing too close to enemies, they are attacking and you are responding?

The setting to attack threatening enemies first tends to pick the guy farthest away from you, like at "Fought The Law" the auto-targeting targets guys on a roof a block away instead of the ones standing idle 10 feet in front of me.

Try changing that Auto-Fire setting to toggle, test it, then change it back to maintain and see if it bugs again. Then report the bug using the question mark in game

Well, I use auto targeting because I use a controller, but it often happens when i'm doing things like - playing a level 40 standing around in Westside.

    Buggy controller maybe?
Try unplugging it and plugging back in after 30 seconds?
