Maintenance 1/15 @ 7am PST

Maintenance this week will be a little longer than usual, as we'll be doing some stuff with the account server as well. We'll start a little earlier, but should end at about the same time. That said, since there are more moving pieces involved, the maintenance could end up stretching longer than usual.

Start: 1/15 @ 6am PST
Estimated duration: 3 hours.

There's nothing like a clear concise description and....
Maintenance will start earlier this week, due to the amount of work needing to be done.
It will finish at about the same time,Hopefully.

And a little further down, it starts at 6 am, and is estimated at 3 hours, but if they try to be any more precise and can't make it, you know there'll be a sudden flood of people (many of whom only post in here on similar occasions) accusing the devs of "lying" about repair times.

I'm starting to think they should use Scotty's Formula, and multiply all repair times by a factor of 4. That way, even if something takes twice as long to fix, they'll still look like they finished up early.

    yes, that was brilliant
" How else will you get a reputation as a miracle worker."
it was the repeated , little longer than usual I was talking about. It just looked so funny.

    That said,
Maintenance will finish on time unless it finishes later or earlier.
    Thank you for your time.

    That should cover it.

Try to get more sleep, it's really not good for any length of time.

My record is 37hrs awake, for some reason I just couldn't get to sleep.
2 sentences from Caliga in game and I start yawning. I kid you not, it was weird but very useful.

Sounds like my wife's insomnia cure. She can't watch the classic movie Casablanca - not because she doesn't like it, but because inevitably, after about five or ten minutes, she falls sound asleep. It's more reliable than sleeping pills.

Funny - my wife does this too with the movie "City of Lost Children".... humorous that dreams are the main pre-text of the film

I once spent 70 hours awake playing the very first Might & Magic video game, the one that came out on Mac, where the action was a still image and "You swing 32 times and hit 18 for X damage."

There was no one else around (it was a weekend at an office) so I may have dozed off without noticing, I dunno. I do remember being stuck at the end because the code to turn off the doomsday device was a quote that didn't fit in the spaces provided, getting ticked off and wandering down to the beach where I fell fast asleep on the soft, warm sand.

I think my record was 40 hours - wake up at 9am, work on a paper overnight, then go to a party the following night. I may have slept for an hour or two in there, though.

Quick update: We're not completely out of the woods. The Cryptic game servers are having trouble connecting to some of our other servers, including billing and some other web services. (Account Guard was also having trouble, but we fixed that.)

For the moment, you won't be able to use billing. We're working to get that resolved ASAP, we'll let you know when it's good.

Update: Looks like we're all fixed. Only issue left is signing up for subscriptions is still down, but that should be fixed soon.

did they happen to add in the bit about creating a username, not the forum name but the username which you can sign in with?

My third account was created using ARC and you only get a forum handle and email. The email on that one is a rather long and hard to spell.

Is it somewhere where you can copy and paste it to the addie field? One of my e-mail addies has 31 characters and that's how I handle it.

My record for staying awake? About three weeks, give or take a day. See, I was deathly sick, because my heart had failed, and the fluid in me was constricting my breathing, and when I laid down to sleep, I would start to drift off and then it was like an iron band around my chest and I'd snap awake, gasping for air. After a while, I didn't know what was real and what wasn't, a true waking nightmare. I couldn't sleep, no matter how I tried, and after awhile, I didn't try. I think I managed an hour of uninterrupted sleep in the passenger seat of the van, sitting upright, but it was only for an hour, and it seemed like no time had passed.

I got help, of course, spent three months in the hospital recovering, and these days I'm retired, currently waiting on whether or not it's possible to fix my heart. Until then, playing Champions is what I do much of the day.

God, captain, sorry to hear that. A friend of mine just got done with heart surgery (valve replacement) and my family has a history of heart problems, so I can sympathize. I hope you get good news, my thoughts are with you.

God, that's me with ww2 documentaries. I love them, but they're worse than nyquil.

I almost wonder if that's a conditioned thing.

My heart failed in 2010, so a few years. I've been on the transplant list most of that time, but more recent MRIs and other tests have been showing steady improvement, and the doctors think It may be possible to repair it instead. My heart is kind of complicated, due to birth defects (it's what caused my heart fail in the first place). My heart has a series of problems- the ventricles are transposed (opposite of what they should be), my heart is in an odd place and a little turned around, and there's a hole in my heart that bleeds on top of that. They think it can be fixed, but it's not a job that most heart surgeons can do. Fortunately, my case is being handled by the top team in the country. They're even writing a science paper on me, for whatever that's worth.

For the time being, I'm okay, although my meds list leaves most people slack-jawed. I'm essentially retired and on disability, and my health is stable. I spend most of my days playing this because I don't have tons of strength or energy. I got a lifetime sub recently, after two years of playing, and I hope the team here starts doing some good things, because I pretty much live here, and I'd like to see my "home" get some improvements (a new zone or two, please)?
