Buying Zen through Steam still Viable?

A friend of mine recently told me about how I can buy games or in-game items using steam wallet Realizing it was steam that introduced me to CO, I figured that I can also buy Zen using Steam. Problem is, when I clicked "Buy Zen" in Z-store it directed me to Arcgames' billing page. How do I pay through Steam if the Z-store directs me to Arcgames instead?

    they seem to have been having problems all year.

    search 'buying zen through steam' and you get a long list of problems form all three games.

    also prepaid credit cards seem to be setting off alarms in STEAM for zen.

    you also don't get the bonus zen from promotions, it's only through ARC.

    This one does apply it. I got bonus zen off of an ultimate card, too. They specifically said that was the case for this one sale.

    It's a good precedent to set.

    Ultimategamecard still hits the exchange rate problem. They also shut august this year. At least for me they did. Maybe they only run in the US now.

    I bought a hundred dollars worth of Zen last week u3u I'm a hero.


    Are you making sure to open CO through Steam? Like if you hit shift+tab do you get the steam overlay?

    Huh, that doesn't seem to work...
    I used Steam to download CO and I can open it, but I can't Shift+Tab. Something must have happened when I installed Arc. Any way I can link Steam with CO again?

    I don't know. I avoided ever opening CO though Arc for the same reason I avoid getting intimate with people who have rashes they're unwilling to talk about. But if you can find out how to cure that rash, you'll be able to buy Zen through Steam again. Good luck.

    Have you tried launching the game via steam.

    By this I mean, Launch steam so you get the steam store front go into the library then find champions and hit play. Could be that Arc changed the short cut so it was no longer launching through steam.

    Also I've had zero problems purchasing Zen through steam.

    I can launch CO using Steam. But the Z-store always direct me to the Arc billing page. Heh, I guess it's forcing me to use Arc.

    If so, that's unintended functionality. I'd dig a bit deeper into Tainted's suggestion, and make sure that the Steam library is launching the right version. I can't think of any reason that it would hook up with an Arc version, but I can't see any reason it wouldn't open the Steam overlay, either...

    For what it's worth, I've been able to open the Steam overlay through Champs.

    Ok things to look at.

    In the steam library right click the champions entry and go properties and make sure the "Enable the steam overlay while in-game" option is ticked

    Hate to necro this thread but I really want to fix this.

    Yes, I the "Enable the steam overlay ingame" is checked.

    Also, I realized that my steam only runs my CO Launcher. I noticed that because the outline of my avatar in steam turns green when it runs a game. After I click "Play" at the launcher, the outline turns back to blue, meaning the GameClient isn't connected or run by steam.

    Anyone know how to fix this? I really don't want to reinstall unless its the last resort...

    There was a change to the billing system used to purchase Zen as noted @ http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/champions-online/news/detail/9082153-wallet-shutdown-announcement.

    I'm not entirely sure how things worked on the back end, but I'd say it's a safe wager this is related to the change since the PWE wallet system was shutdown completely to basically force everybody over to Arc in all of PWE games. Arc isn't worth the bubble gum wrappers they wrote the code on, but that's another discussion entirely.

    I bought Zen in-game through Steam Wallet the day before the FF slot sale ended. Which was the day after the PW Wallet was shut down.

    Seems like the only solution left is to redownload/reinstall CO through Steam. If I uninstall CO in my Steam Library, will all of my contents get removed? If they do, can I just make a backup and copy-paste the costumes I've made?

    Your characters along with their costumes, items and nemeses are stored on Cryptics servers. If you're talking about costumes you've saved but aren't actually using, then you can find them in the "Champions Online\Live\Screenshots" folder of the installation library.
