A third slot for travel powers

We have so many great thematic options that I feel 2 are not enough for some concepts (A "Batman" would need Grappling Hook, Athletics, and Ninja Vanish, for example). It would also motivate many to purchase additional powers from the C-Store.

So, please? :)

that would be too easy to get.

Q store if we're lucky but then it would only be the ones you can't purchase in the Zen store.

Yeah! Then add a 4th travel power because 3 is too little.

Even better! Let's allow travel powers to be bought as regularly as normal powers!

Oh oh! What if you gain a brand new travel power per level?

Call Maverick if you need a DPS help, or Combat Medic if you need a healer.

Okay, here's a question for discussion:

    - If every player in the game automatically received every travel power (as in, everyone could use every travel power instead of having to only pick 2) what would be the effect on the game?

I doubt there would really be any other than maybe some one managing to spend all there advantage points on travel powers. Unlike old CoH travels powers don't really have any other advantage to them there pretty much purely thematic and don't really provide any meaning full in combat advantage (which is something they should totally look at changing)

That would make melee's life way easier. Change to flight to chase flying enemies, superspeed should they need to rush towards/away from an enemy and teleport for emergencies.

Having choices makes the game interesting.
Simply giving everything to every character doesn't.

My newest character has some elemental powers, with superjump and metallic ooze tunneling, but it would be great if I could add Earth Flight too.

Another has Shadow Wings and Ink ooze tunneling, and he uses also Dark Speed.

In both cases, all the powers fit the themes. I think a third TP slot could be really useful sometimes.

What we need to make melee's life easier is make roots work on bosses.

    That's....actually a very good idea.

Hell no this is the best thing about CO travel powers. pick whatever the hell you like.

However even now, some melee builds feel restricted to ground based travels because of the sheer annoyance of not being able to chase down targets fast enough.

If anything needs fixing, its that, although there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it without making everything else worse so just leave it alone ok?

I would be happy if with said in combat advantage being you ciould actually use your travel power in combat at least rank 1 speed. in other words get shot of combat speed.

You mean get rid of the movement penalty in combat?

Yeah its overly harsh, especially with flight. you slooooow waaaay doooown.

at the least they should lift part of the movement penalty on flights.

Also, get rid of the time limit on teleport for Out of Combat. In combat teleport would have the same limitations as before however.

Flight speed currently seems to be tuned with the assumption that there are a lot of mobs in the game that only have melee attacks and hence having flight would be very powerful against them.... I have yet to see these mobs personally.

Bosses don't move that much. I'd agree if they were able to flip about the place like players can when fighting...the only ones who move much are:

    Devana Hawke <-- Evasive Flip

Hrodengir (or whatever) <-- just a lunge

Mechanon <-- but we all fly around in that instance.

Bosses tend to only move if they are close range and need to get their current target who is out of their range, and even then, we have travel powers, they don't so we can keep up with them and use the follow button.

When you start messing with control powers in CO, things get bad very quickly. In other words...I agree that roots do need to be more effective for melee players...they just don't need to work on bosses.

I could see some idiots seeing what combinations will set off the worst visual effects
Like the people who were using serial emotes to crash the servers.
500SCR per power, yes can't say that without smiling.

    at the thought of the
"what I have to do X instead of Y(my preferred option) to get what I want"
"but it'll take sooooo long"(add wine to the cheese)
"but I can't get them till I get till level 40"(or have a character at it)

Unity1- about 18SCR per day, with UNity2, 36 per day. 13.8 days.(barring getting the lemurian "I'm lost" caves)
    plus daily alert gives 2SCR.
so 2 weeks to get 1 device.

hmm wouldn't take long for people to start farming SCR to sell the devices.
some people will do it, just to make more money

How about this: let a player purchase additional Travel Powers for a given character by spending Zen, sort of like buying extra Aura Slots; but keep the current limit of two Travel Powers per Build.

I concur with this. It doesn't give any advantage beyond utility, and most of our utility purchaseables are in the Zen store. And most of the travel powers are bought via the Zen Store so it fits from a marketing perspective.

Pricing is tricky. I'd argue it should be 90% of the cost of a new character slot, perhaps.
That way it's prohibitively expensive enough that players don't feel like they're getting worthless freebies (because if potential supply is increased by lowering prices, demand drops, I think), but is enough that someone could conceivably save up for it even if they only play casually in like... A month or two's occasional daily alert missions's Questionite grinding.

I might be wrong in that estimate.

As for it always being two travel powers active at any one time... I agree with this too from a ui perspective. Right now, our screens are super cluttered. Between portraits on team icons and our health bars, the screen taken up by our powers, the map and the quest titles both open and personal...
We need all the screen real estate we can get to see what is actually happening in game.
Plus 2 is a decent number, allowing us to have a secondary travel power. Tertiary travel powers can be swapped in from the power menu or bound to a build as needed.
