OK, Champions Online...can you stop lowering my texture quality please?

Is there any way to get Champions to stop automatically lowering the in game texture quality?

I have a GTX 980, which has 4GB of VRAM. With all settings maxed, the memory controller is only averaging around 25% and VRAM usage is 1.8GB, but after about 60 seconds or so, CO automatically reduces the character and world texture quality from 200% to low (50%?).

So after looking more into it, it seems CO fails to recognize the VRAM capacity of my video card. The game is only allowing 800MB of VRAM to be accessed without texture quality reduction. Even after setting /videomemorymax to 4096, it still refuses to use more than 800MB.

It seems this issue is prevalent with the engine itself, not necessarily CO, since a few users have reported the same issue in STO. Is there any way to fix this?

Your best bet is just to send a ticket to CO, but CO is one of them games that is really weird with things, for example I can run crysis 3 at full settings, but if I do it on CO, it eats into my Memory Card like mad, making huge crashes and issues.

But like I said, Contact an ticket or tweak your systems in such a way that its good enough quality but it allows your PC to run without CO ripping its neck out

Have you tried updating drivers or if you have the most up to date try going backwards there has been problems in the past where CO and the video drivers have not got on.

I put in a ticket yesterday. Unfortunately, having to resort to submitting a ticket means that it'll never get looked at, or at best never acknowledged, by a support rep. I have never had any luck with bug reports with CO in the past, and considering PWE doesn't seem to care about CO means that there's probably even less staff supporting CO than there was 2 years ago when I originally stopped playing.

I have tried both the release drivers as well as the current drivers.

The problem seems to be with the graphics engine itself, not necessarily the GPU drivers. The gameprefs file recognizes the total memory of my video card. If I delete the gameprefs file and let it regenerate, it will automatically put "PrefEntry SystemSpecs.videoMemory 4096" in the file. Despite this, nothing I do seems to fix the issue. There are a few users that have reported the same issue in the past over on the STO forums as well, but there have been no developer response.
