Shorten Rez animations

The current rez animations look cool and like something you'd see is almost any super hero cartoon. Awesome, That's super great.

The problem is that it doesn't translate very well into a video game. Especially when your character doesn't get any sort of temporary invulnerability. In alerts like Gravitar chances are that if you die and get rez'ed, you'll probably die again while the animation is going on.

Other games have no or very short resurrection animations, and CoX (RIP :( ) also had the advantage of great teleport powers that allowed healers to teleport downed allies out of battle where they could be healed and buffed safely before being sent back into the fight.

My suggestion would be to shorten the length of the animation substantially.

    Agreed!

Nobody wants to be 1-shotted by Gravitar while saving someone else.

I feel you. One of my most favored characters on CoH was a regen scrapper. Moment of Glory and its near invulnerable status it granted for 10 seconds was something Id routinely hold back from using and keep ready to pop right after a self rez if the need came.

I also recall on age of conan rogue types having a form of self rez that was like a random dice roll to not be actually killed but more like knocked out if one dropped to 0 hp. If you made it, then you could self res pretty much instantly. Used that once to really ruin a guy who thought he had forced me to die when i leapt off a clif to avoid his pvp attempt, he came down to gloat, I waited till he turned his back, popped up, offed him, got the pvp xp he hadnt since Id technically killed myself with the leap off the cliff, and boy was he pissy. good times good times.

Frankly it still astounds me that there is no power set in CO with a TP ally to you power like coh's recall friend. It was a vital power in my Regens task force commander build, along with the heal pool so that no matter what we could never lose, as worse case I could self res, escape, find a quiet spot, and get the team back up and moving quickly.

Also was a great way to convince a squishy ally who was prone to death to not fear it, between vengeance and being able to res them, even if all they did was spend time eating dirt they where making a huge positive impact on the party indirectly as vengeance fuel.

There are Teleport "powers" that allow you to TP to allies and Allies to you, but they are in the form of devices you have to buy in the C-store, and the teleport team version doesn't seem to work in alerts.

And the teleport travel powers are piss poor compared to the "click to move" teleports CoH had.

They're not "piss poor". Teleport is so fundamentally different between the two games that they are not comparable. Apples and oranges mate.

    CoX is gone.

Apples and oranges are still fruit. One tastes good, and the other one doesn't.

Still, the rez animations are too long.

Maybe they'll stick shorter resurrection animations in some stupid lockbox or something.

I disagree. The animations should not be shortened. They should just add an invincibility period to them. In a game that is literally surviving only on its style, the last thing it can afford to do is cutting style.

Yeah this. Literally every other game that features extra lives and coming back from the dead (without checkpoints or hwatever) features post-new-life invincibility frames.

this would probably make gravitar too easy, but in a good way. maybe that would lead to giving her more ranged bubbles or something, which I think the fight could use.

    /signed on that

It wouldn't make it easy, it would just remove that fun part where people get blasted right after getting rezzed. If people already need to get rezzed often enough that it's an issue, then the team is already having a hard enough time of it.

I do like the bubbles though. Could trade out some of her FC spam for more bubbles.
