Ok...so gunblades are a pistol weapon but are pretty pointless in blade terms. Why can't gunblades be adapted for claws or even dual blades? In freeform terms this makes major sense since they make a build THEY like.
I could really see them being used for Fighting Claws (the held weapon claws, not the natural type) since it is a bit punchier / short range which would match the augmented pistol whipping that Gunblades likely would be used for.
there are a few uses for the actual blades on gunblades to be fair, i understand not every power would make sense but allowing some powers to use the actual blades would make sense.
Gunblades "as is" can't be used for MA:Claws or MA:Dual/Single, the hand positions won't line up.
That said, it shouldn't be too hard to take the gunblade designs, and move the active position around some, so they can move in the same basic orientations as regular single/dual/claw weapons.
That said, while I can easilly see a Deadpooooool of Cloud/etc clones, sorry, homages, showing up if we had a HW version of those things, melee weapon pistol-blades would rock, and I don't recall any time Cloud (or his clones in time) using dinky pistol versions.

i can see the homage uses but to be honest...what style doesnt have a homage used in game already :-/
I can see the issues in terms of alignment etc but the main thing i was thinking was the fact the blades are useless overall
simple question where is the money going to come from to pay for the dev time to do this over content everyone can enjoy including new animations for new and wanted power sets etc?
Your first question to ask, and the first part of any idea one has to suggest in this game, needs to be, how can cryptic be paid to make it worth their time?

I really don't think every suggestion requires a cost/benefit analysis to be performed in advance by the player making it, and not every change in the game has to monetized directly. For instance, there wasn't a charge or subscription requirement to participate in the Steel Crusade quests: They were added to broaden the game and theoretically improve retention. Likewise adding gunblade as a weapon option to some melee sets *might* improve the enjoyment of some people who use those sets and make them more likely to play / make characters to use them.

From all of em C-store purchases. Playing it normally (without paying) alone also supports it.

Hi. I noticed this thread while browsing for some help with the Automaton build I'm working on.
In any case, one thought is that while there is the CLASSIC Gunblade that you guys are talking about, there was one in Japan recently that could also work. Instead of the blade being straight forward ala the classic, the blade was coming up from the gun as a normal sword.
In a way, this would solve both problems and make things interesting. It would allow you to use Single Blade at least, I am not sure how the animation would look as I'm a returning player here.
I hope it helps out those that were wanting the whole crossover pieces.

made me laugh but tbf...if you can't see gunblades in more than pistol uses...you need to game more :-p
