So I think we should, as a community, pick a day of the the week to be "Level By PVP Day".
Basically on that day, people would que for hero games as non-level 40 (preferably pre-Tier4) characters aaaaaall day long, so that we can experience some of that old time goodness of leveling using hero games.
Now obviously it would have to be limited to BASH and ZA due to the queue bug, and people would have to tuck their egos in their back pocket since balance would be aaaaaaall over the place.
Thoughts?
TL;DR - Saturday is LevelByPvp day. Join the LevelByPvp channel*
never levelled anything by Pvp and have no interest in wasting the one day a week, I can play all day on it.
Now if someone gets the devs to post on Facebook and ARC, you could have a introduce new people to .. getting the crap beaten out of them by zombies .. oh and other players
I leveled on PvP a lot on my alt IMP on this new account as soon as I got to level 31. It sure does take a while at that level at least leveling on BASH tagging.
I'd be up for it though, if we get 10 people up for it we could probably make it so the queues don't bug which would be cool. (FYI the queue bug happens due to the fact that less than 10 people queue for it.)
We'll have to see if they changed BASH's floor cleaner. I can't stand eating dirt there since they switched to cherry.

You had a few people at "PvP" then lost the entire rest of the community because they fear what they do not know.
Well, we all know that the people who are afraid of losing are the ones who would lose their temper and sour the mood anyway, so I'm not worried that those people wouldn't be attending
It's been long enough since I did pre-tier4 pvp that I forgot that bash doesn't open up until tier4... guess we'll have to restrict it to ZA, unless we get exactly 10 people so we can que two groups of 5 for the team games (of course, we'll have to be nice and swap people around if any continual steamrolling occurs ^.^)
Me support this because, I think people should get a chance of Hero Game trainee mode before get one-shot killed or be Ganked in first time of their Hero Game experience.
I'd be interested in the 11-20 or 21-30 tiers of this, but the 30-40 tier will be a nightmare of unleashed rage, ebon ruin, strafing run, MD, and unbreakable spam.
Those who don't take any of these abilities will be outright disadvantaged.
You had a few people at "PvP" then lost the entire rest of the community because they fear what they do not know.
No, I'm pretty certain most are familiar with the experience of being ganked repeatedly by overpowered Frankenbuilds in PvP. There's nothing to fear - they just don't like it and would rather be entertained during their gametime.
I would imagine being you and your buddies' punching bag for a night is not most folks' idea of fun.
Okay okay, we get it, you can't handle losing. You've said it enough, nobody cares if you don't wanna do it, there's no possible input you could give that would actually matter.
Since people keep mentioning it, I did point out that this would be a Pre-Tier4 thing.

I like pvp, but as you pointed out, there's major issues with balance in this game. That's why I usually hesitate when it comes to jumping on the "promote pvp" bandwagon. As long as things are left majorly unbalanced, you'll always have players that will be discouraged to participate, even if you throw a bunch of incentives in their face. I'd rather they balance things out first to level the playing field a bit more, then give us the incentives after.
somebody said you get a lot of xp doing zombie apoc,
that one is fun and a good intro,(and thats from someone who doesn't like PvP)
though you may have to explain to people about the PC's not allowed to leave the area for long rule.
so it's simple, good xp and any build or AT will do.
I think you're discounting Helbjorn's concerns here. There's a difference between"losing" and"being obliterated repeatedly with no take to match the give" - being constantly brutalized by the "elite"set who can't tone it down t osave their hobby has been a perennial problem in my view.
That's not to say that newbies should go in and not expect to lose from time to time, but losing all the time (often in brutally imbalanced fashions...
Stop bringing nukes to knife fights is the gist here. Take a dive once and a while ifyour poor e-peen ego can take it. You know you're superior-give the newbs a chance to feel that way, even if its an illusion. Let them have time to develop a taste for PvP.
Stomping them into dust ten second in then ten seconds after each respawn? That just makes people quit without incentives to suffer it, which there are none worth mentioning, thus no one sticks around and PvP continues to tragically languish outside of the RenCen duel scene.
You can lose and still hav efun - depending on how you lose. Idon't think its losing in general Helbjorn's got an issue with - more the sort of toxic brutality that has so poisoned the HG's reputation for non-PvPers.
I'm not trying to get anyone new into pvp. This is for people who enjoy pvp and who want to re-live the time when we were able to level through it.
Why do non-pvpers always want to make every single pvp thread be all about them?

Basically the whole reason PvP is not high on my priority list.
Imagine how the people first running into a higher tier match feel when they get brutally and repeatedly curbstomped on spawn. If you want me to make a comparison, imagine if you joined a match with GMC and he was your enemy. It's no fun when all you're doing is pretty much lying on the ground 24/7 because someone decided to attack you when you are in separate leagues altogether. You get no chance to play and will end up looking for something else to entertain yourselves.
The unfortunate thing here is when people ask for nerfs to some of the key powers of FotM Builds in hopes to BALANCE PvP, it's the very PvP Crowd using them that whines about it, and they're the loudest and most obnoxious bunch. They want to keep that "edge" when in fact that's what's stopping people from even wanting to come back. There's no harm in trying, but these "3lit3 PvPhurrs" don't want any change for a chance at a better PvP game. They'd rather stick to their selfish OPness on top of a hill that's getting flatter and lonelier to stand on. The lack of rewards is also a threat to getting people hooked on PvP, but that's far from the only thing.
So I think we should, as a community, pick a day of the the week to be "Level By PVP Day".
You didn't address this specifically to PvPers. It was addressed to the community as a whole. I don't bother PvPing on this game anymore because using an AT against a freeform built for PvP is usually a joke but, I think the main problem PvP has here, lack of participants, is caused by the same issue that causes it on a lot of other games where PvP isn't the focus and is more of a side game. Namely, it's the bar for entry combined with the attitude of a lot of PvPers.
This game doesn't even have a PvP subsection to the forum for me to look at but, I do PvP on a lot of other games and look at their forums and, they always have the same comments on games where PvP isn't very active. They lament about how lackluster PvP is in terms of player participation while at the same time railing against any suggestions that might alter PvP to make it more welcoming to other players. Many of them are usually very loathe to give any real tips or advice that might actually help players become more competitive. The most common phrase I come across on those games is, "They have to pay their dues."
You can't realistically ask people to come PvP, violently oppose anything that will give them a fighting chance, repeatedly grind them into the dirt, and then tell them that they have to figure crap out on their own but, tell them to requeue for another curbstomping. It's just not going to work for retaining the average player and even those that are fans of PvP are likely to go to another game where PvP is more balanced and competitive. This isn't even touching on the attitude of a lot of PvPers that actively drives away new people as well.
If you want people to take part in PvP, you have to actually encourage them. Host a tournament or do workshops that help people understand what makes a PvPer effective on this game. Do something that helps people get their feet wet at an entry level instead of just being smacked down nonstop by the ones that have been at it for a while and know what they're doing.
So wait, the suggestion I just read, put forth with a straight face, is "be less good at pvp, so people will join"? PAHAHAHAHAHAAHA. Yeah, no. It's competitive. The whole *point* of pvp is to work your build and get good enough to hang with the big boys.
Let's look at what's been nerfed in the past because of people who can't build for pvp being butthurt because pvpers were kicking their asses:
Ego storm is unusable because one mob breaking it drops the entire power. imbue has no purpose at all. enrage is a toggle that doesn't work with ranged attacks. Agressor is no longer a toggle, putting a serious dent in the damage heavy weapons throws out (which is why you never see any in pvp) because people were pissed about haymaker spam.
Arguably, the IDF nerf/stacking nerf/is now a form thing is pvp related, too. Teams would roll all IDF, as it wasn't a form at the time, and people with guns couldn't scratch em. When's the last time you saw IDF in use at all?
All of that hurt pve, too. You know how it's damn near impossible to build for ranged and melee at the same time now, because there's no form that works with both? Thank pvp nerf herders. Or, you could accept the fact that pvp will always be an arms race, there will always be an optimum build, and move on. It's impossible to achieve 100% balance, and honestly a lot of the things being asked for nerfs aren't really as popular right now in pvp anyway. 2 gun mojo comes to mind, duelists use it. Pvp? Way less.
If you don't like pvp, don't pvp. But the same tired line about how you can't win and therefore pvp is stupid? We get it, but it's not constructive to those of us who DO like pvp. Hell, I get stomped too. I still give what I get, because even if I'm not *killing*, I'm still whittling away so other people can. Hell, last time I did ZA I got facerolled. Losing can be fun too. Ironic that people who complain about our epeen being able to handle losing are doing so because their epeen can't handle losing.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
Yes, set a day tho - I miss ZA something fierce (actually got a match in about a week ago by pure luck. Was nice)
And as for IDF.. its a good tank toggle with some builds.. part of what makes my latest tank build so absurdly hard to hurt. I still see it in use elsewhere, too.
Saturday, starting this Saturday.
