Whoever the hell wrote that should be given a massive lesson in sensitivity!
Regardless which side of the gun laws debate people are on do you really think celebrating my country's birthday with such a tag line is appropriate? Many Americans don't think that celebrating the 4th is about the right to bear arms after Sandy Hook and other massacres. I'm sure Europeans and Asian probably have the impression that America is gun crazy but the fact is many Americans support gun control.
The Fourth of July should be about all Americans regardless of ideology coming together to celebrate their country and hopefully putting aside their differences for a day.
Thank you, please remove that inappropriate and offensive sales pitch. Feel free to delete this thread afterwards, I don't want to spoil the holiday tomorrow.
Well I for one actually do approve. And no the 4th isnt about everyone coming together it is actually more like a veterans day for all those first citizens who chose to stand up and fight for their right to freedom rather then submit passively to dictatorship of a tyrant across the sea. Those who didnt fight for any reason where more often then not called coward and traitor.
And only those who honor such men by keeping to the tradition of being not just a citizen, but a member of the american militia ready to take up arms at a moments notice to defend it from invasion or a would be tyrant trying to take over are honored on the 4th, those who feel for any reason like they do not have to carry that weight and share that burden with all their fellow countrymen can as far as I and many are concerned stay home and keep their heads buried in the sand rather then watch the celebratory fireworks that are literally used as a symbolic reminder of the war we fought.
Or have you no memory of that line "And the rockets red glare, bombs burting in air, gave proof through the night that the flag was still there!"
Cowards call us gun crazy, men free of fear call us warriors to the bone and at one time was well deserved and reason enough for our enemies to give our homeland a wide berth.
It's insensitive to celebrate our founding fathers and the brilliant document they created? Frankly, I don't give a damn about the opinion of those who thinks only criminals should be allowed to have weapons on the issue of the second amendment.
I honestly don't see an issue. This is a game where all problems are solved by violence. I don't see a reason to treat the whole munitions powerset as the elephant in the room.
Many Americans don't think that celebrating the 4th is about the right to bear arms...
Not specifically, however the right to keep and bear arms is one of the many reasons why early Americans fought for independence. America didn't win the war for independence by farting on the British.
Dear Devs: I enjoyed the Legacy of Romulus expansion much more than the Delta Rising expansion. .
Every day, 282 people in America are shot in murders, assaults, suicides and suicide attempts, accidents, and police intervention. Every day, 86 people die from gun violence: 32 are murdered; 51 kill themselves; 2 die accidentally; 1 the intent is unknown. Every day, 196 are shot and survive: 140 shot in an assault; 10 survive a suicide attempt; 43 are shot accidentally, 2 are shot in a police intervention. If we were to use these statistics to extrapolate more realistic numbers for gun deaths only in July 2013, we’d begin to see a very different story of lives lost and families changed by gun violence:
Well, I was afraid it was going to go stupid fast. This isn't about political correctness, it's about sensitivity and appropriateness which this silly sales pitch is neither.
Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
The Star-Spangled Banner was written about the war of 1812 not the American Revolutionary War.
I think the whole gun issue in the US is a symptom of mental health issues, socioeconomic castes, and longstanding regional cultural differences... but people ignore those. So why not here as well? Carry on and resume the usual complaints.

Maybe they'll enable NPC damage so we can get that heart warming American harming innocent bystander feeling in CO.
First off, nothing about our right as citizens to own weapons has anything to do with the blue mafia and their frequent and flagrant acts of violence to intimidate the free people of our country. In fact it is the existence of armed police and military in our country and around the world through out history that was a major reason for giving we the people the right to bear arms and defend ourselves. Its sadly not at all uncommon to hear badge wearing thugs say things like the law doesnt apply to them, that they are the law, that kind of thing sadly is not just in movies and comics.
Nor is it at all some new thing to hear how inaccurate LEOs are with their weapons as statistically it has been well documented that if you are more then 15 feet away from a LEO you have abot a 50% avoidance chance, and if your more then 30 feet away you may as well be the flash for all the odds of them hitting you intentionally.
Do no confuse the two please. Nor is a public shooting incident by mentally ill individuals some reason to ban guns from free peoples. Mental Health is frankly just an area we are still as a world society still trying to fully understand. We pump experimental chemicals into them to try and even out chemical imbalances in the brain, put chemicals like flouride into the water of cities and still dont have any true long term data showing how that chemical might effect us long term.
People are flawed, that is not news, people make mistakes, or lose their cool and take actions they will often later regret this is not news. The media trying to blow things out of proportion to make news is sadly the very function of news companies. They do no care about the truth, they do not care about the facts, they care about ratings and that is it.
As noted, this is a game with cartoonish depictions of violence. While I heartily encourage discussion and contemplation of gun policy, the context of Champs isn't really the place to have it -- not because we want to shut down discussion, but because guns have no moral weight when they inflict 15 damage and build Focus.
Nonetheless, we know this is a hot-button issue. We never want to divide the Champs community, so we're pulling down the reference. My goal is that the 4th of July should be a uniting force, both for Americans and people throughout the world, in a universal spirit of freedom and self-determination.
If you're interested in continuing the discussion in your own life, I recommend this podcast, personally. This is an ongoing discussion that Americans should have, because it's of great ramifications, but our goal was never to link it to a new grav bike release.

Umm...doesn't the grav bike come with weapons? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that was the reason they used that.
I don't think they used it as a way to get people all riled up or to be insensitive. I, also, don't really have an issue with the wording.
To each their own, I guess.
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
Some of us love celebrating the wild caricature that the rest of the Western world has painted of us.
Besides, there's a first amendment, too.

Yay guns!
Maybe this current news inspired them as well
Or maybe it was the story about these heroes.
Maybe they'll enable NPC damage so we can get that heart warming American harming innocent bystander feeling in CO.
Regardless of anyone's political beliefs in the real world, this is a game about guns and superheroes and explosions and fake cartoonish violence.
No offense to the OP, but I think is a case of political correctness gone far astray.
