Now this one's been haunting me for my entire life, and has finally decided to creep up and tackle me at a time I wish it wouldn't. No, it's not losing my hand or my marbles, but rather my eyesight. I've been incomprehensibly nearsighted all my life and my eyes are finally losing it. It's been a long time coming, but this isn't the end.
The good news is, since I reacted to this early and got it checked out ASAP, I can have a procedure done to repair the retinal detachment. It's scheduled for tomorrow at 10:45 AM my time (Subtract a couple of hours if you want that time relative to the Server). Had I waited, this would have been much more devastating to my life and quite possibly have very well ended most of it.
I'm not gone forever though, this will likely just be the last you'll hear from me for a month while my eyes recover after the operation. So, that Monster Island Beach Party I had planned for July 1st? Go ahead and strike that off your calendars. I'll find sometime else to set up after I'm good to go. Sorry to leave yall hanging like this.
Stay classy Millennium City, Hope to see you again soon.
My mate has a degenerative eye disease that causes him to have tunnel vision and spots in what he can see as well as his normal vision to be cruddy to say the least. I give you a modicum of hope by saying that despite this he can play Champs and Star Trek Online. He has to do a lot to adapt but he can do it and not that badly. However, I can sympathize and he would even more. I hope your condition improves a bit!
Okay, given the circumstances, what we had thought to have been a detachment ended up being just a pretty deep ridge in the eye paired with a nasty ocular migraine. This is probably the best news to hear since this means I don't have to get my eye cut open and be forced to wear an eyepatch for a whole month. While the news was relieving, I'll never actually be out of the woods on this.
The deep ridge in my eye means that it's still going to eventually start ripping open. The second opinion also revealed minor cataracts in both eyes. Thankfully, I have only two more years before we can try a sort of cataract surgery that might just correct my vision altogether, meaning I won't be stuck with high-prescription lenses. Any worsening vision will have to be checked out, because next time I might not be so lucky.
Here's to hoping I continue to stay out of the hospital, sorry for misleading yall like that.
I suffered severe retinal tearing a few years back (a good retinologist saved my eyesight), so I know how scary these sorts of problems can be. Glad that you haven't experienced the worst case scenario, and hopes and prayers of an eventual cure for you.
