New Powerset Rumor

So I can't excaly remaber where I got this from but around 1-2 players have brought up that there is so some strange rumor of a new powerset.

Although I don't trust or believe them I'm wondering if anyone else had heard this as well, there is no information about the new power yet but they do say its in development.

Share your thoughts if you heard this too or if there is any confirmation on such

I personally never listen to Rumors....I'm really not counting on such ideas being true..

That being said I would still love new stuff in CO...So...I still have my fingers crossed...What?...Common I can hope can't it? :P

On a side note I heard the rumors where related to three new Powersets:

Plant
Staff
Errmm....Elemental Weapons...or I can't remember right but some kind of Elemental Melee :P

Still can't say if such things are true though

I would be happy if they added more striking abilities to the elemental powers,while i understand the idea of making them localized versions of whatever element they are discussing, comics are filled with punches with fists covered in ice or flames, and i rather liked what tehy did with stone and its hybrid strike/ranged power. That said, some people seem to be running with the "big thing" rumor which may indicate some things were said on the test server, because history isnt really supporting "big things", nor were trailturtle's recent "medium year like last year" comment. so we will see if its leaked rumors or hype dreamed up by the desperate fan-circle.

Actually I personally don't think this is the right time to add new powersets...balance is very touch and go already...but I guess sometimes you just have to say....ack...to H**k with it...Let's just go for it :P

Not that i think they should though.

Plant powers were said to of been in the works however we don't know if the new guys decided to continue on Crush's plans or to design some new powers themselves to try to make for the game.

Only thing to say is lets wait and see... I've been waiting for a month now though. <_<

If its a long handle starting with M, they were complaining before that we were supposed to be getting a new AT, when NW got the Ranger. I have already pointed out to them that "NO, we were getting mini sets NOT a new AT"

I'll be honest, I'm not holding my breath as the chances of a new power set seems very low. Or really anything more complicated than a vehicle. I believe it is just a rumor and nothing more.

According to their hiring page, they are looking for people who can manage servers and databases at Cryptic North, as well as someone who can put character profiles online. I dunno if this means they are developing a new game (champions 2 or something unrealed) or planning to migrate CO there in the future.

They are also looking for cryptic north people to create content and work on systems design.

Also lifetime subscriptions went on sale for the first time in ever, so there's that.

They are planning something big, we just don't know what it is yet... but that's the rumor, like flyingfinn said.

No too mention there's been a new release of something almost every month recently. Sure it's been lockboxes and costume pieces mostly. But we've seen some bug fixes, Rampages, and other minor issues addressed. That's more development than this game has seen in a long time.

I really do hope all these little clues are adding up to something big coming our way soon. This game and this community could really use that.

I could maybe see Melee Elemental Powers being implemented as a sort of aura, kinda like the Critical-Hit Visualizer Aura from FoxbatCon rather than actual new powers.

I can't see them working on another fantasy game, they'd be flooding their own market and the market is already flooded as it is. They need to do something to CO or something new like CO really to be released around the time when the city of hero remakes start to be coming out. They would need something which would stop them from being such a hit and instead keep CoH players in the updated CO or an entirely new version.

They clearly don't have enough staff on their team currently to work on an entire new game just yet so I would say it is most likely going to be a migration and an attempt to expand CO a bit. (I hope)

Not as far as I'm aware or can find online info for. They've had the 3 month for $30 sale a few times but as far as I can tell LTS hasn't been on sale for CO since February 2011 when FFA went live.

There hasn't been. We've had subscription sales but never LTS sales. Of course if you go back through news articles when STO had an LTS sale they screwed up and said it was Champions, but that never happened.

For a while after launch, Champions wasn't selling LTS, but they brought that back after some time.

You know I'm kind of hoping it's a Sonic power set of some sort. It's the one damage type without a real framework or synnergy to support it. Of any kind.

Yeah, this was the only LTS sale in the history of the game. The big thing right when Free for All came out was that they were selling them at all as they had previously discontinued them.

Yeah, a Sonic set would rock. Stuns, interrupts, & debuffs everywhere!

It was just a sub sale. This is the first time LTS has ever gone on sale for CO. Been people nagging about it ever since LTS came back, especially since STO got LTS sales several times.

This is the second time it's gone on sale. I bought mine for CO and STO the other time it was placed on sale a few years back. It was only 20% off then though.

<_< That's part of why I said stuns & interrupts; both of those exist and work in game already. The other part is that I'm not entirely sure how a sonic "hold" would even work.

On the other hand, I can easily see Sonic providing lots of stagger and disorient.

I just want some copy pasted Trickster Rogue abilities for a dual dagger mini-set, complete with totally impractical reverse grip stance.
