I've got the Error 36 problem.
For a refresher, it means that a file has been locked. Can't re-write it because of that, so patching fails. And when patching fails, the game won't launch.
Now... the quirk is that I got a brand-spanking new PC. It's got Windows 8. Previous threads on this issue were for Windows 7/Vista.
Any ideas how to solve it?

Was having issues with the pre-launch on the launcher getting the 36, so I used the .exe that's reccomended to be downloaded off of the STEAM forum. I couldn't get that to run in the default place for CO, though, so i was...
*cough*
Running it off of the desktop. Think it's kinda obvious why I was getting the Error 36.
Anyway, went back and since I kept the old PC's hard drive, stuck all the files from that install of CO into the new install location on my main hard drive.
Problem getting that .exe to run was solved, and no issues with error 36. Will update/create a new thread in case the problem hasn't been permanently solved.
I'm a bit ticked right now, just spent THREE hours downloading the primary patch, only to get that error. Now I have to start all over from scratch!
