Open statement regarding costumes to Devs and Players alike

First of all, this is an actual complaint- the first part is, at least.

Consistently over the last... well, since 'On Alert' we've lacked the capacity to fully test costumes in the PTS. And by 'fully test', I mean that we only have 'PTS' costumes and the basic selection available to us. This is a problem.

Too many of the recent costumes have had glaring incompatibilities with other costume sets outside the standard array. Problems include parts 'hovering' away from the costume, parts clipping far too much with others (though many times this is welcome), mismatched colors, etc.

These problems all could have been alleviated by opening up all tailor options available to the account on the PTS. With these parts we could mix and match those 'test' costume parts with a wide variety, and provided more accurate feedback.

Instead, we only get 'that costume' and the basic stuff, which severely limits what we can test. This is a problem, as very few players actually create a character that features entirely that ONE costume set- nor are most players limited to 'basic free selection + this new costume'. We NEED to be able to combine what we have, or to an extreme- every possible option.

Even opening ALL costume options on the PTS would allow players to determine if spending Questionite, Drifter Salvage, Globals, or simply grinding away for a drop is worth the time because a certain piece would be incompatible.

Fellow players, rest assured- many of us DO go to the PTS to test the costume. If you get something that is not working well with what you have, the blame is not on the players who test things- we are severely limited in what we may test. I want you to know that this is a concern for us, and we would love nothing more than to be able to point out that X piece is incompatible with Y set because of Z reason well before you invest your time, money, or effort into acquiring it. Because of Cryptic's insistence on limiting our selection in the tailor, we are limited in what we can see until the item is dropped live.

Please keep this where it is. 'Suggestions' might as well be called 'pile of poopoo sandwiches' because things go there to get a thumbs-up from two or three players and are never acknowledged as far as I can see.

Just adding another vote of support even though I don't have access to the PTS. I do trust the CO players dedicated enough to deal with the PTS to have the community's best interest in mind when it comes to costume pieces.

I can't think of any logical reason to not do it this way. You can't really test without as much of the live environment as possible available.

I've asked for this before, and still want it to happen.

Well why the heck weren't they doing it that way already? Does Cryptic developers need to take a class on proper playtesting procedure? u_U

Are you honestly asking that question in seriousness or is it sarcasm?

Let's not turn this thread into something it isn't. The OP was quite clear and not insulting to the devs. Insults get threads closed.

I stopped using the pts (barring promos) when it became obvious that they don't listen to the feedback. 's not insulting, it's the truth. Cybermind was the last time I messed with it, because we all reported the janky collision detection for the aura fields, and it went live anyway. That said? I'd love a bit of a costume pass, there are quite a few pieces that are literally unuseable because they clip with the base skin layer of the character. How do you mess up that hard on something that simple?
