My PC has had a long series of flaws relating to windows and as a result, I've just had enough of it's problems and decided to go to my Mac laptop full time.
I checked to see if there is a Mac client for this game and according to an archived post from the old website, there is one in open beta.
But each time I try to visit this page, the Arc script disables the page and force redirects me to the new site.
And because the links on that page are disabled, I can't click on them to download the client or visit the forum.
Does anyone know how I can get the download without getting this arc nonsense interfering?
I know I say this a lot, but the more I encounter Arc, the less I want to see it!

I don't know but it'd be awesome if there was one.
I know some people who won't install anything from the land of Redmond where MS lies, out of principle, which means they are very nearly impossible to tempt to a Windows game and just recently tried STO because of its Mac client.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Depending on the browser you use, if you block a particular javascript file then it will neuter Arc and prevent redirects. I think it was globalprefs.js but I'm probably wrong and how to do it will vary based upon browser / plugins.
I could have sworn somebody posted it in the CO forums at one point, but said post / thread may have been archived by now.
CO has never had any official Mac support, beta or not. STO's Mac support came out of the blue one day and then launched like 3 months later. It doesn't work that well from what I've heard, either.
Basically you need to either sorta 'emulate' Windows (I hear it works well enough, don't know the programs offhand though), or since all Macs for like the last 5 years are basically Intel PCs, buy Windows and dual boot.
Those are your only options. I highly, highly doubt that CO (or NW for that matter) will have full Mac support ever.
STO's mac client works well enough for my purposes.
And in one particular area (a graphical glitch in the code currently unfixed), it actually works better then the pc version.
BootCamp allows you to run a partition with Windows in it on a Mac, but I found that unreliable, so I stopped using it.
Using the disabled javascript function, I finally managed to view that page for real.
Turns out it wasn't actually a CO mac client at all!
It was a link to the STO mac client.
Why are they posting that on the CO site?
Oh well, guess I keep waiting for CO to catch up with STO.
This seems to happen a lot, STO makes several steps forward and CO stays exactly where they are.
If this keeps up, CO is going to be so out of touch, it'll be outdated very soon.

You're going to be waiting a very long time. CO has for the last couple of years been kept alive by a skeleton crew, that doesn't really have the resources to do much in the way of innovation/development. And due to how CO & STO differ, they'd have to put forth a noticable amount of resources to make a Mac client for CO, even if they could base it on the STO client.

Not really. All they did to "port" STO was to certify that the existing Windows binaries ran under TransGaming Cider, a DirectX-tuned commercial Wine port. There's no native OS X code involved on Cryptic's part. They might have tweaked one or two things to ensure STO's version of Cryptic Engine was optimized for Cider, but most of the actual work is installation support, not development.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
As far as I know, Cryptic does nothing to maintain their STO client and it works just fine.
I assume any problems were ironed out during it's beta testing and shortly after the live deployment.
However, there is a consequence of no Mac client, since I'm not using PC anymore, they're losing income because I'm not buying any c-store points anymore.
Granted, I'm just one person, so it's not that great of a loss, but still, it's money they're not getting anymore.
And now that I think about it, I used to be able to buy c-points in STO and spend them in CO, because both games shared the c-points as an account wide purchase.
Which I used to do if I couldn't get the points purchased in CO.
But apparently that is no longer applicable, since my STO account and CO account have different amounts of c-points.

I use WINE on damn small linux to run CO ( not advised if you dont know what your doing ) cuts down on CPU usage does damn small linux no bloat in the background.
Mac also has WINE. Try that.

you just need bootcamp. yes it would be nice to have an OSX version but they don't.
Duel booting gives the best of both worlds. I fully expect there to be an uproar,"but why do I need windows blah blah blah" Basicly this is the only solution worth doing ATM. Parallels runs two OSs at once and with the demands that CO already puts on a computer, that just isn't smart.
So my suggestion is find a cheap copy of windows 7 and install bootcamp on your mac

ive tried out wine on both freehand MX and CO on OSX and it was extremely buggy, CO and it's memory leaks are just to extensive for it.

STO has a Mac client? When did this happen and why did no one tell me? I can save some hard drive space on my poor overtaxed Windows partition now.
Wait, before I uninstall STO in Windows, is the Mac client available through Steam?

I searched the forums for the topic and couldn't find it.
I hope this isn't a sign that work on the Mac client has been abandoned.
I use the Steam Wallet to buy C-Points in STO and would prefer to do the same in CO.
PWE's payment system just isn't reliable, so I don't use it.
