So it seems that mark 1 vehicles have been reduced in price somewhat over in the C-Store, and mark 2 vehicles are selling for about the same price that the mark 1 vehicles were selling for, but they also have this vehicle tune up kit that costs 700 on it's own, and supposedly it makes most mark 1 vehicles comparable to the Mark 2.
So here's a few questions:
1) Why does something that's supposedly there just to level the playing field cost so much?
2) Why would anyone buy a mark 1 vehicle + a tune up kit when they could just buy a mark 2 vehicle for cheaper?
3) for People that use vehicles on a regular basis (I just treat mine like travel powers) do you consider this a good buy? It gives you more slots and upgrades some of the modifications I understand, but presumably you've also spent a lot of resources to upgrade the vehicle anyways, and maybe for some vehicles (especially the chaser items from the lock boxes) the improvements would be negligible and not worth the money.
I tend to think that they've, as usual, priced themselves out of the market.
Personally, I think all Mark 1 vehicles in Z-Store should be just turned into Mark 2.
I think STO burned everyone here with their "Fleet Ship Module" precedent.
You should probably just be thankful they only locked it away in the CStore, instead of doing that and locking it behind a bunch of superhero group upgrades that could be barred to you by the group brass and cost millions of Questionite... but then doing that would have meant they'd have to make supergroups meaningful, and that would have required more investment into CO on Cryptic's part than just dumping something else in the cash shop.
I suppose . . . course I tend to think most of the vehicles are ugly and the old tanks looked worse IMO.
I think the flint fire is gorgeous, but otherwise I agree. I'm getting one of those tokens to unbind my lemurian hover tank, so I can give it away or something.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
I like only first hawkwing models, and flint fire tank. For me tune-up kit is a way to switch from demonwing (which is ugly) back to the stealth hawkwing.
maybe Cryptic/pwe think some people just like the colour of one of the MArk1's and will buy it for that
you know all those great colours....

In all honesty, this was just about the money. with the issued vehicles posed, there was no need or want for a mkII and the upgrade honestly isn't worth the $7. In STO, you can "upgrade" your ship with slightly better hull and maybe a slightly better console, and that's only $5 for a vehicle that is something you use upwards of 50% of your play time (relatively). Here, there really isn't much use for vehicles at all, and they're actually asking for more money than the game where it actually is a frequently used thing.
It was really just a move to add something just for the sake of adding something they can charge you for. I really don't see how they got away with the $7 price tag on it either. I don't play neverwinter, but it would make even less sense there, if they ever added it.
Why is it, that they can put out countless things like this, that make no difference or add anything, yet they've flat out told us "No New Power Sets!"

They already do, sorta kinda. You can pay an exorbanate number of Astral Diamonds, NW's version of Questionite, to rank up your mounts and companions, the cost to upgrade a low end mount or companion is much higher than just buying the already upgraded ones in the C-Store.
Of course here we just have to rank up from 1 to 2, the afformentioned mounts and companions effectivly have to be ranked up 3 times to be at their full potential.

The only use for tune up kits is to maybe upgrade already owned vehicle.
I doubt if anyone will buy fresh Mark 1 and a tune-up kit.
And yes, present price for tune-up kits is too high. It's roughly a half of a vehicle. It should not cost that much, to undo bad development decision.
It is also very counterintuitive decision. If anything, tune up kit should cost as much as the average difference in price between Mark 1 and Mark 2.

Appearance. There's no denying that the vtol and some of the jets look WAY better than those new tank things.
