I would like sidekicks to be implemented by way of a custom sidekick device.
you create a sidekick in a character creator like the nemesis one, and your sidekick is made, as a permanent device you use to summon him or her.
they should probably be more powerful than the current z store sidekicks though I bought a pistolwhip once and she was doing ZERO to 40 damage with 2 gun mojo, and I was at level 40.:mad::rolleyes:
I'd pay about 1000-1500 zen for such a sidekick provided it was powerful enough to be useful, but not too overpowered.
the device should go on a 20 minute cooldown if your sidekick is defeated.
Honesty I would love to see that! I could finally have 2 of my character fighting Together at last
I'm not familiar with the STO Sidekick, but in CO they could be Devices which take Special MODs and Gear!
Sell the Base of the Sidekicks on Z-store and have special ventor to customize them

MODS for the Sidekicks's Critical Chance, Offence, Dodge-Avoidance, Defence-Resistance, HEALING (i wouldn't mind a Sidekick which will be a portable Healer )

Quick summary:
In STO, your character has Bridge Officers, secondary semi-NPCs who can assist. The number goes up as you level; their specialties (Tactical, Science, or Engineering) depends on the ship type. (If you like to fly Cruisers, you'll tend to have at least two Engineer BOffs; Escorts will lean toward Tactical.)
Each one has special abilities that unlock as they rank up; their rank will always be at least one grade less than yours, topping out at Commander (lvl 20 equivalent - STO's level cap is Vice Admiral/General, at lvl 50). There are up to four Ground Abilities, and the same for Ship Abilities - for instance, a Tactical Officer (the first BOff you recieve, and since the revamps of the tutorials one who's tied into your beginning story) can start with, say, the Ground ability Photon Grenade (obviously, throws a grenade, with about a 10- or 20-second cooldown, I think) and the Space ability Heavy Torpedo (your next Torp will do extra damage, with a cooldown similar to the Grenade). You can choose to upgrade those abilities with points you earn for your BOffs, with up to ten upgrade levels per ability (and a certain minimum number of points spent being necessary before they can be promoted to the next rank grade). Those abilities can also be retrained, either by being awarded (or purchasing) a BOff with the ability you want and then choosing "Train up a current officer" rather than adding them to your crew, or by finding an appropriate Training vendor. (Also, as you rank up your character's abilities, they can gain the ability to train their officers in certain things.)
For CO's purposes, I'd make it a Device, as Gradii proposed, or a single Sidekick slot, because it wouldn't really make sense for your toon to have an army of sidekicks (even Batman only has one at a time; eventually, each one become a full-fledged character of their own). At the most basic level, the Sidekick would have one or two powers, adding more as you level (say you can buy the device at 6 - still have to solo the Tutorial if you do it - then add a power at, oh, 12, 18, and 24, for a maximum of four Sidekick powers). The Sidekicks could use either an AT framework or an FF; I'd favor the FF, for maximum customization. And of course they should have access to all the costume parts you have, as well as standard physical customization.
And then I could finally give Spider-Bat his Blackbird...
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
only problem I see with giving sidekicks free form customization is the same as why nemesis don't have it.
people would make them too OP lol.
Okay, then, the Sidekick would be selectable from any AT the player has unlocked (which means Golds get all of them, which is only right I think).

I think this would be a wonderful thing that if they desired, PWE could take advantage of and release special features for Sidekicks available as drops from varrying bosses, lockboxes, etc. Perhaps if instead of them just having all the AT's as gold, have the bulk of them and then make some as drops for Silver members. I'd enjoy this very much as I cannot do a duo with anyone in the game, but I long for making a duo so much, I would be willing to pay for content like this, but I think it would be extremely nice to have it available at a high lvl or something, though possibly have "Sidekick training" packs in the Z-store that buff your Sidekick to be able to actually do things instead of stand there looking pretty, though they'd still DEFINITELY not be as strong as a player.
I rather do individual purchases per sidekick you want on a toon. You can choose their power set (main damage power, main support power, and passive), travel power, custom look and equip them with regular character gear. You can purchase up to 4 sidekicks per toon and they are useable as long as you don't have a full team of actual players. The sidekicks can be altered and given "respecs" in the powerhouse or their own special instance.
