I have a trio of characters in mind, but not sure which power sets work well with concept. Hoping to find some good ideas here, as in the past.
First is a water manipulator. Mainly want to be ranged damage, with some pushing around. Protective shields would be nice, as would a healing power. Looking at Wind and Force both power-wise and graphics. TK/Ego Blades might work also, but thinking ranged would be better for theme (partially transformed Lemurian sorcerer).
Second is a sonic generator. Lots of boom and shaka-laka! All of the characters I think of that use sound as a power in comics seem to have explosions and vibrations for causing mass blasting, and possibly some crowd control. So far it seems Force again works, with maybe Ego Sleep to represent a disorient power, and Sonic Device because sonic. Theme would most likely be tech suit or robot-like, but a ghost might be interesting also.
Last of the bunch is a plant thing. I'm sure there are a few people that have searched for a plant power set, but I have no idea where to start. Thinking weeds, thorns, vines, maybe poison spores. I've considered Infernal powers, but could really use the help brainstorming this one. Seems very eclectic, as there is so much a plant could do. Thinking along an elemental theme like Man-Thing or Swamp Thing, but am not opposed to a Plant Man or Poison Ivy style either.
Any advice or thoughts or builds or power selections would be most helpful.
1. Infernal tinted blue. I use this for my water guy as well, it looks really good. Mix with Protection Field and it looks pretty convincing that it is a water-based character. I use Infernal Bolts and Venomous Breath mainly...and it looks really good, in my opinion.
2. Sonic is a bit harder, but you could be onto something with Force...I don't know how techy you want your toon to be, but Sonic Blaster has the vibration circles, as well as Sonic Device. Sonic Arrow could be used too, again, depending on tech.
3. Best option for plants is Shadow Embrace tinted green. Looks like flailing vines. I have a dryad-based toon that uses it, Regen passive, Devour Essence, and Command Animals. If you have the questionite, you could complete the look with Vine Swinging as well. You could also use Toxic Nanites for the "poison" effect on powers, or just go all in with Infernal.
Remember: Half the people you know are below average...

Thanks Ajanus. Hadn't even considered Infernal for water, and the plant ideas sound pretty intriguing. I appreciate the advice; sometimes the vision and the mechanics don't play well in my head, and having a soundboard helps a lot.
This inspired me to make an Infernal/PFF hydrokinetic Namor homage, and so far, it's pretty fun. If you recolor Metallic Ooze Tunneling to a light blue, bordering on blue-green, it totally looks like you melt into a puddle of water.
I'm using the same INT/END/CON setup I use for my EARFF controller, and so far it works just as well on this guy. To that end, I actually use MSA as the energy unlock instead of Supernatural Power, and I spam a blue-tinted Force Geyser to trigger it. It totally looks like he's making water shoot up under his enemies.
I always thought that some of the arcane powers, esp Skarn's bane, looked rather 'watery' when tinted a light blue. Skarn's even sounds similar to a water power imo (and pilalr of poz could be like a crashing pillar of water). If it weren't for the runes and the Sorcery tag they could be a great fit in terms of visuals.
Also, if ur building around sonic dmg/powers, you'll prob want to pick up the Sonic Boom Generator sometime. It has an adv that increases sonic dmg (for how little there is out there).
