I'll go one step further. You should look at getting:
A will (especially if you have property, even more especially if you have kids)
A living will
Power of attorney w/ your spouse or other trusted family member
Last year, a relative had passed away and it was a good lesson in why this type of paperwork is important. Especially the power of attorney. I've got these all set now.
It's not painful to do. Just meet with a lawyer, give him/her some necessary details, and he'll write them up. Then go over everything and sign it. It's all pretty standard.
