Better rewards for Adventure Packs

Sometimes I'd like to take a break from leveling in the regular game and level some in the great extra content that's been added. But they can take a really long time and in the end I might get some Q maybe some so-so gear and very little exp. They were great content the first few times through just for the sake of doing them. But some better exp would certainly draw myself and probably many other players back into them.

It might take some work but if you could boost the exp up to about the same exp you could get from questing for the same time. Maybe give every objective exp as if it were a mission on it's own.

Since they scale with your level they could serve as an alternate leveling path for any level. Please, Please, Please.

Its true that the APs and Comics Exp is so poor compared to Alerts. But as of now, the rewards is the Q boxes, the Q chunk for completing it, and the uber rare drops in specific ones.

Demon Flame - Jack Fool's Mask

    Serpent Lantern - ?

Resistance - Dark Speed, Gunblades, Ironclad's Axe, Avatar device Resistance Wings (elite)

Aftershock - Ripper AF (Issue3), Viper Hood (Issue 5)

    Whiteout - ?

    Yeah. I see your point.

I like the comic series and would play them more if I got the same XP for my effort as hopping around MC beating up Purple Gang members. Since the Questionite prize costs and exchange rates are so high, doing them for a few thousand Questionite seems like a lot of effort for too little as well.

This can also be said for all of the lvl40/41 missions in the game, but that's a different complaint.

    I'm agreeing with "More XP"

I mean the mission rewards. Doing a Vibora Bay tomb for some green or blue one-slot gear? Eff dat.

Reward should match effort. The Comic Series and lvl40 missions don't really give that. There's a reason everyone sticks with Alerts and all the other maps outside of MC are near empty... Though you could argue that the Alert rewards don't match effort in the other direction.

I do Whiteout from time to time when I want to stock up on Q-nite. Between the daily Q reward and the Q boxes from the bosses, I typically get around half the daily refining limit from one full run.

Tell me if you think I'm wrong here. It seems to me that there just isn't much 'end game' content, not a whole lot to do once you hit 40. So most of the long time players hit 40 then start rolling new toons until they find one they like and then take that one to 40 and so on. Cryptic doesn't have any plans anytime in the future to add more high level content much less add an expansion to raise the level cap. So if they really want to keep the game going they need to make leveling new toons more fun, right? Mostly they do so by adding some new costumes and travel powers to allow some more options in making a new toon. And you'll try out new power combinations for new concepts and you start building a superhero that's a lot of fun to play.

But, damn, there's only so many times you can run through an existing area before you just can't do it again. On the other hand here's all this content in the game right now that's hardly touched because there's just not a lot of reward for running your 20'th alt through it. You've already finished the story, unlocked the costumes, been disappointed in the gear drops, etc. Sure, you might take a new toon through one for a break every once in a while but going in you know it'll take an hour or two and you're character might, maybe be a level higher on the other side.

I just cannot understand why they didn't make this content an alternate leveling path from the start. I really just don't get it. They put a lot of damn work into them but did it just not occur to anyone that by the 6'th or so run through we might need more motivation to go through them again? The stories are fun enough on their own, but the only 'new' stuff you're going to see in your play through any of the game is to grow your character, combine new powers and build on your concept and the only real way to do that is to level them up.

The Alerts are nice and all, but come on. Throw us a bone here. CO is a hell of a lot of fun to play, but it's getting old. If they're not going to add any new content at least repurpose some of the old stuff.

Comic series also needs some nice rewards. I've always thought about these mission lines. How about this.

Grant XP equivalent to finishing a grab alert at the end of an issue in comic series. Adventure Packs are also divided up into different parts, make each part give an XP reward at the end. When playing a max level character you earn a resource reward equivalent to a Smash at the end of each part or issue.

    Bludskarr:

    Some minor points:
    1. IMO Raising the LvL Cap is a foolish and outdated system in MMOs. I would much rather see CO get a Campaign Zone with an Alternate Advancement/Boon/Reputation system like STO and NW have.
    2. Gear is cute but it's mainly for newer players(not a bad thing). The LvL 1-34 gear is horrid for the most part. This is why most older players I know just use Heirloom.
    3. People must, IMO, learn to divide Cryptic and Cryptic North. With Cryptic goes the, "You haven't done X in Y years?" and "You promised us the J Set how long ago?" whereas with Cryptic North they've mostly been repairing the issues with On Alert, putting costume sets in the Z-Store, they did Fatal Error, they did the Auras, and they are our current best(See: ONLY pretty much) hope of getting stuff done. Also, with Fire and Ice they've proven that things Cryptic tried to make a reality over a year ago are not only possible...they're about to go Live.
    4. As for the CS/AP. Sure, boost the XP gains somewhat and maybe slap in a few new shinies and unlocks for places that are sorely lacking(like Serpent Lantern, the most boring and obvious prototype to this kind of content). On a semi-related note let's put the old unlocks(or new items that are just the unlocks, I don't care either way) back into Nemesis Confrontation, remove the Q boxes from the Nemesis, and have Shadow Destroyer reward players with random Q Number times 5 so that people actually run this thing from start to finish. For the vets with everything from the old drop tables...give Shadow D a chance to drop his AF....and/or maybe an Aura drop that's those cool pink death orbs.

Ok, that should do for now.

    sage information

Agreed, I'd love to run some of the CS/APs again, I used to have a blast in Resistance and I'll run SL occasionally during a Q hour since it's worth it in a team, but otherwise I feel no desire to run them, even though I'm still missing costume parts from most of them on top of perks.

Sorry I got a little rant going there. Anyway.

1.) I'm not at all suggesting that raising the cap would or wouldn't be a good idea. Just that once upon a time it was in the cards and a lot of the pacing was set up to fit it in.

2.) Gear is, I wouldn't say cute, because it sounds like I'm being a jerk. But I'll grant it's not all that important through most of the game. But damn it, I still get a big old grin when a purple or really cool blue item drops.

3.) My rant about the old days was only a rant about the old days. I certainly don't blame the new guys for stuff the old guys did. But the old guys did a lot of great stuff too and seemed to be on the ball a lot of the time. But some of the decisions still bug me and I can't yell at them anymore.

    4.) Sure, why not.
