I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing a crash to the desktop whenever they try to access the C-Store on a computer using Windows 8.1. This does not happen on my Windows 7 computer. I copied the files from W7 to the new computer. Should I re-download the entire game from the launcher? I did verify them once but it didn't have any effect. fyi, I use the CO launcher not the ARC launcher.

I don't recall CO officially supporting Win 8, so have you tried running CO in Windows 7 compatability mode?

I've ran CO on Win 8 for the last year, no issues aside from the Cryptic server ones over the summer. Not sure about 8.1, but I've also heard that there's a lot of other issues related to it's release.

Yeah, I didn't think they did but I thought I would check if anyone had the same issue.

Anyways, I tried Win 7 compatibility but it still crashed. I still hadn't checked my errors from last time so decided to do it since you keep getting the pop up. From last time I remembered I needed run as admin since a couple files couldn't be checked. This time it didn't crash when I accessed the C-Store. I tried it back with Win 8 compatibility and run as admin...again, no crash.

Just thought i would bring this up in case anyone runs into the same problem. I'm not a big fan of running in admin mode but I don't buy stuff from the C-Store everyday so I would only need to run it once in a while. The rest of the game worked fine w/o admin mode.

I'm running WIN 8.1 with no problems in CO.

NW and STO I get the crashes when I try to log on. Gets to just before the character list and direct3d error.

    have you updated drivers?

did your machine come with Win 7 and you update to 8?

mine did, win7 uses Directx 9,win 8 uses Directx11. My GPU (according to the Nvidia site) does not support Diectx 11.
You may have a compatability problem with something on your computer. Not necessarily what I have.

This is a fresh install of Windows 8. I'm using an AMD Radeon 7850 with the latest drivers, 13.251. I copied the files from my Windows 7 computer. It is not a huge issue anymore even when I had the crashing because it only happened opening the C-Store. At least for now, I just need to run it in admin mode when I want to buy something. Sounds like I need to install from the beginning because copying must not have written some permissions I need.
