Why can't I get good FPS?

I put this in your "How to tell if your computer can handle this game" thread but didn't get a response. I did the math on that thread but can only get 25-30 FPS on my minimum settings. here is what I have:

AMD PhenomII 3.0GHz quad-core processor
NVidia GTX 650 TI 1GB frame buffer
Windows 7 64-bit
8GB RAM
The best I can get is 25-30 fps on minimum graphics setting.

Note that I can play Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 on high settings without a hitch.

Your hardware should have similar performance as mine given CO's asset usage vs the PC's capability, yet it doesn't... and I run on much higher settings given that you do 25-30 on the minimum.

    AMD PhenomII x4 975 Processor 3.6 GHz
    NVidia GeForce GTX 460
    Windows 7 - 64 Bit
    12 GB RAM

    Average FPS Range 45-70

I know that we went over the Video Settings in SG Chat extensively, so the most I can recommend you to do now is check and make sure your Software is up to date (Drivers, Shaders, DirectX, etc.). IObit has a program for that here if you don't know how to do that otherwise.

Take note that CO loves to leak memory, so bug the Devs and pray to the mighty RNG god that they fix it.

Because CO is very poorly optimized(much like my spelling), and thusly it's rather greedy...although as stated above, make sure all your drivers for your hardware are up to date, and for the love of the all mighty RNG make sure you're not running CO through arc, it's murder on resources.

Yeah some things are broken... no I don't use/abuse them.. where would be the fun in that?

Well I update all the drivers, etc. and I ran the game without opening Arc. Same result...

Mind copying the contents of your gameprefs.pref file here?

Not sure where it is for ARC users, but for steam, it's located at:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Champions Online\Champions Online\Live\localdata
Everything after my 'common\' directory should be the same. If you can find that install directory you'll be golden.

Right click it and open with notepad. The pref file is very useful as it contains not just your graphics settings, but also what the game thinks it should use, pertaining to hardware.

VVV I meant the whole thing. Given how similar your setup is to deadman20's (actually a bit better), I'd imagine the answer lies somewhere in the game's settings, instead of your specs.

Turn off nameplates and damage floaters, and you should see some improvement.

Which leads to the incredibly dumb question: How?

P.S. Whoops! Now I see what you're talking about! I thought for a moment you were referring to my previous post.

My bad FPS happens even when I'm looking straight at the ground with no movement taking place.

Reading all of this (especially how you still get low FPS when looking at the ground), I'm going to suggest you type this stuff while just playing:

    /maxfps 0
    /perframesleep 0

This should disable any artificial limits the game is setting on frames per second/rendering speed. Though I'd suggest after confirming this is the cause to turn your max fps back up to a number equal to your monitor's refresh rate (60 and 75 are two common ones.)

Tried it. Still no change...
