Shame it's just a restart. So many things need fixing.

I bet dwightmc is just trying to lower our expectations for the big reveal. I have a feeling this is the patch with the foundry and the new level 41-45 zone.

Just double checked. No Patch Notes for today. We hope to release two new auras today, which we will have an official blog post about soon assuming all goes well; however we don't release patch notes when we are simply introducing new items.

Typical. When is this game going to see some actual development and fixes outside of lock-boxes, tiny costume packs and minor Alert additions/tweaks? The Aura system was a good start, but seriously.

Well, goblin, just before that vacation time we got a slew of bug fixes and system tweaks (did you miss all the screaming about the Dodge changes?), and of course the Aura system was added in...

I acknowledged the Aura system. And of course, bug fixes/system tweaks are always welcome. But that doesn't really make for riveting new content.

Well, if you think you could do any better here's the link to the 'Careers' tab of the Cryptic website. If you have the skillset, and live in/around Los Gatos, California (where Cryptic HQ is), then why not apply? In this job market, why the heck not?

Really, though. Anyone who could help out at Cryptic, PLEASE do so. I'd owe you one, as would the entire CO community (provided, of course, you actually help improve the game).

You mean like the bugs that have been unfixed for over a year now? /sarcasm

Examples of major game mechanics bugs that have been untouched for over a year include:
    • Aspect of the Bestial Rank 2 and Rank 3 DO NOT WORK. (and it doesn't worth with Aggressor properly either) This is a major detriment to bestial set characters that want to enjoy the Giant Growth advantage.
    • Overdrive DOES NOT WORK with all maintains. It should. It would open up a whole lot of diversity and make Empathic Healing or Celestial Conduit as equal competitors with Conviction or Inequity.
    • NPCs still DO NOT properly trigger knockback resistance on repeated knocks. Read more here.

Examples of system tweaks that still haven't been done:
    • The Auction House's GUI is still arguably the WORST in the ENTIRE MMO industry! Completely user unfriendly, un-intuitive, doesn't allow searching for the details such as stats, doesn't allow for price sorting (even something as simple as an ascending/descending price toggle), and full of bugs that you have to do workarounds for.
    • NPC AI is still as ******** as ever. Just rush at the target with the most threat score. No healing mechanics or clever use of debuffs for most of the enemy factions, even the higher level ones.
    • Zone still haven't gotten reward revisions to incentivize exploring them. Long story driven content still only gives a measly 2000 Q, regardless of length. (note: Aftershock takes a few hours to fully complete compared to Whiteout which takes about 30-45 minutes.)
    • Crafting types still don't do anything. Mysticism, Science, Arms, who cares it doesn't matter.
    • Only a third of the old crafting instances were restored.
    • Hideout upgrades still haven't come to pass, in-spite of players repeatedly mentioning they'd pay for it.
    • SG base hideouts (the equivalent or even a lesser version of what STO has) still haven't come to pass, in-spite of players repeatedly mentioning they'd pay for it.
    • The ability to color customize vehicles still hasn't come to pass, in-spite of Brou proving the game's engine can totally do it, and in-spite of players repeatedly mentioning they'd pay for it.
    • New explorable permanent content... Let's see last Comic Series came out when? Last zone came out when?

Need I keep going Jon? There's a LOT of catching up to do. And I say catching up because it all kind of grinded to a halt after On Alert was released, and all the money and development went... well... somewhere else (some say to NWO's production). I'll remind you that YOU were one of those very people telling others to hold tight, that as soon as NWO was released things would turn around. Well Jon, I'm still waiting and hoping for the best. Thus far the biggest highlights I've seen are auras, some cool new costume sets, and a nerf to dodge/avoid gear (that last one of which is a bit of good and bad, more bad or good depends on who you ask). Meanwhile in STO and NWO...

Well, if you think you could do any better here's the link to the 'Careers' tab of the Cryptic website. If you have the skillset, and live in/around Los Gatos, California (where Cryptic HQ is), then why not apply? In this job market, why the heck not?

Hmm, the biggest issue for me is that I live over a thousand miles away from where that office is. Not exactly something I could commute to everyday.

I might just send in a resume though, I do have relevant experience. And "shipped" is a relative term, does being a part of a mod team count? Help making multiplayer maps (my specific area of expertise in in map editing, specifically around the concept of high-entropy, complicated geometry maps for multiplayer shooters. I don't make kill box maps, I prefer naturalistic or realistic) that became official maps? I wonder what education requirements are implied for in their ideal candidates? Would they even consider me working from a remote login?

Also, a grain of salt to consider, a word of caution: wanting to do better and the actual job duties are not necessarily in congruence!

For example, you may want to implement all those things I just listed above. But your boss tell you are mostly going to be handling customer service issues with people making racist comments in Zone chat. Granted that's a more extreme example and not based on fact, but you get my point I hope: that what you think you are signing up for isn't necessarily what you're going to be actually doing on a daily basis.

No, not fixed. The aura system is fine. Some folks feel it's a bit pricey, but since you do get one Legacy Aura free on each toon (even if you're Silver!) and can customize the color and often the rank (even if you're Silver!), it looks good from here. Hypernova is a Behemoth, but has this interesting blue glow of power surrounding him (Kinetic Manipulation aura), for instance.

Sorry, but that's something that gets right up my nose. If you want to disagree with me, go right ahead. You'll hardly be the first, and you might even be right. But don't passively-aggressively "fix" my words, and pretend it's all in fun.

Yup. Aura system is fine. Nemesis System is fine. Like most of the stuff in CO.
I bet they make a hefty amount of cash for all the slots and auras people with 20+ characters are buying.
Good thing is that the Aura System isn't part of the Character Creator so it can be passed by without a trouble. It's a bit like the Streamlined Character Creator, only better.
I think i'm buying the 100 Aura Storage Slot set next. Just have to figure out which of my characters needs 140 Aura Storage Slots 1st.

70+ here and I bought 3 sets of auras to see what they are like. they are sitting in the hideout. I've got a couple of individual one son character but a lot I haven't even claimed the legacy ones. I run on low graphics fx(old cheap computer) adn a lot of the auras require medium to see, which means I also see a lot more power effects and the lag that goes with it.

I see no reason to buy 100 aura slots.
There's only 8 actual slots max you use.
Someones being a bit overenthusiastic with that idea especially since we have 40 slots to start wit

Yea. I wonder if the one who made the slot sets had some info about the Aura System and all those coming Auras in the future.
Or was the Aura Storage supposed to be actually accountwide but was changed at the end after all the Slots were allready made. So they just fiddled them a bit and threw the Slots in the store. Because someone surely will buy those at one point. On purpose or not.

Oh, the irony. Your passive aggression is shining through brightly in this post . Don't attribute features to me that I don't have. "Fixing" your words was only a bit of fun for me, I wasn't pretending. It's a bit of humour that many use (including yourself) so you can keep your self-righteous indignation to yourself mate.

You were assuming that my problem with the Aura system is the cost. I do think it's pricey, but my real problem with it is the strange choice of not just putting Auras as account bound costume pieces in the tailor. That way you could coordinate your look with your Aura far more easily. Also this way, instead of having to open the aura UI and the aura storage to change my aura, I could just change costume.

Don't be so quick to bare your teeth.
