Alright, so... I'm not exactly the best of advertisers, so let's see here...
I've been wanting to either join, or create, a good group revolving around magic for some time now, and either the existing ones aren't making themselves obvious and well-known enough, or they just don't exist. Personally, I don't consider myself leader material, but you don't necessarily need one with a good group of people... though if I was in any sort of lead position, it'd be with a council of sorts, or just for keeping things like the vault and such organized.
ANYWAY...
The last game I played was Dungeons & Dragons Online (not Neverwinter), and there, I tried to form a guild focused on magic. It could have gone better, though it was still fun, but in any case, I'm gonna try that name idea again.
This group is called... House Teken'ett
It's a drow "house" name meaning "Delvers in Magic", but don't let the drow language get in the way of your thoughts. I'm going with this more as a clan or guild than the way regular drow houses are. Besides, back in Stormreach, the various houses were just non-race-specific groups which ran various aspects of the city, such as the military, bank services, transportation and other things.
Not exactly sure what this one could be said to handle, but moving on...
There's no specific plan for this group. It's starting out with just gathering magic-users, and magic-related things, such as elementals, golems, werewolves (Bestial Supernatural IS in the Mystic category after all), etc. I figure we'll get into a bit of everything, honestly. PvE, PvP, roleplaying, the Hero Games... Mainly this's to unite mystical types under one roof.
Keep in mind that not everyone is going to be into the same activities, of course, but as we grow in number, there will always be some people who are. Help me get this thing off the ground so we can make it into something interesting.
If you'd be interested in an in-setting sponsoring or coordinating group for your guild, in the official Champions Universe the foremost "good" mystical organization is the Trismegistus Council. This is a loose global association of occult scholars devoted to safeguarding the world from various supernatural threats. Few members of the Council command raw power rivaling that of most super-mages, but collectively their knowledge of magic is matched by very few. The Trismegistans serve more as sources of information about the Mystic World. They maintain relations with a number of heroic mages, such as Witchcraft of the Champions, alerting them to arcane threats and providing research support.
Should you desire more information about the (very extensively developed) magic side of the Champions Universe, I'd be glad to answer questions or direct you to relevant sources.
(BTW the CU does have dark elves. One of them is even a member of a magical supervillain group, the Devil's Advocates.)
I would not mind joining this group with my alternate character once I find time to actually play on it more. I've had a build idea for it for a while now, and it uses quite a bit of powers from the mystic tree.
We are normally in touch in-game, so maybe we can talk about it some time.
I'll... probably let someone else handle the roleplaying aspect of the group. I think I just like being surrounded by magic.
I'm not exactly a roleplayer, despite my character's description. I was chatting with a old friend of mine, saying that I was going back to CO from DDO, and taking the idea of a drow wizard with me, and they typed a bit of a backstory for me... plus I guess I just don't like blank spaces.
If you're still looking for members I'd be willing to join your SG.
Hope you don't mind someone who is kind of new to champions....and kind of not but I played my share of COH and I'm looking too recreate the fun in champions
